the website for Safariland holsters states that you should spray the inside of the their suede lined holsters with silicone spray and they recommend you do it again if the holster has gotten wet.
does anyone do this? do I need to?
what if I don’t have any silicone spray - is something like G96 with PTFE good as well?
I have used on for almost 10 years, in all kinds of weather and have never used any silicone spray. The holster has always performed as it should, and the suede lining is still intact.
notice that they mention the use of slicone spray at least twice to protect and condition the suede. in the owner’s manual that comes with the holster it says to use common silicone spray liberally if the holster remains tight after a reasonable break-in period.
I just wondered if anyone was doing this and what product they used…
Our agency does this when we issue new holsters for the initial break in period, but never do it after that first time. We use whatever silicone spray is available at a hardware store when we need more.
