Safariland Holsters and Battle Belts and Lights- Oh My! Help....

Before we go any further, let me just say that trying to research/pick Safariland Holsters out is the most confusing thing I’ve done since Accounting class in college.
So it’s up to you all to save the day again…

Here’s the issues:

1) I am planning on aquiring a Safariland Holster for a standard G17 with a SF X300-Ultra mounted- I have had the opportunity to try one out, as well as get hands on a couple others, and I like them enough to not be bothered with the 101 other 'newest and bestest" drop holsters out there. I would like it to be in ALS flavor, without all the wankery hoods and levers and stuff (just the thumb lever would be nice). Current options are 6365, 6354, and 6004.

But, sometimes I see the options I want, and other times I don’t, depending on which website I’m on- so I would KILL to have someone just give me the accursed part numbers for any/all of the above holsters for a G17 standard size, with X300-U, standard black texture/color (don’t need anything shiny or basketweave), or a link to a reputable website that actually has the things in stock, listed in a format you don’t have to be a savant to understand.

Now, it seems that some of the holsters I listed there may or may not come in the flavor I want- I have no idea based on what I’ve seen so far, so if I’m wrong do correct me and point out the right one.

2) Also, do the 6365 belt mounted types come in different drop heights? In the various pictures, sometimes it looks like a lower drop, and others a higher almost belt-height drop length. Wrong pictures matched to the product, or different sizes?
The 6365 ALS was the one I borrowed to use a while back, and it sat at just about the perfect drop height, but of course I didn’t have time to get a measurement…it was below the belt though, and had been modded with a single leg strap.

3) After the above issues get sorted out, the fight is over which holster type to pick- offset or drop leg- as I am intending to run the holster in conjunction with a battle belt (currently looking at HSGI’s ).
However, being the fastidious sort that I am, for a number of reasons I do not want to mount my holster to the BB- I want to keep it attached to my daily belt, and run the BB over the top as usual.

So, with the padded ‘battle belt’, will a belt-mounted 6365 type drop low enough to clear the BB, or would I need a little more length, like the 6004?
I also know that the padded battle belts differ in size between manufactuers, and as HSGI claims that theirs is one of the narrowest (vertical width/height wise), these variations could come into play, if for some reason the HSGI doesn’t work out.

That’s all I can think of for now- it’s 1:30 am and I have a brain ache. :moil:

Yeah I know Safariland numbers suck, but you’re all over the board with your models. What are you looking for? The 6004 is a thigh ride with an SLS hood, The 6365 is a belt mount drop holster level 3 retention with both the ALS and the SLS (I doubt you what this one). The 6354 is a thigh rig like the 6004 but with an ALS instead of an SLS.

Yeah, see know you see what a mess I’m in here…

Ok, I think I’ve just been getting the 6004 confused with the 6354 then… Maybe it’s that people use the 6004-style base leg plate to mount other holster models?

As far as the 6365- the one I used had been modified and had the stupid crap removed, so that it was just the thumb lever release. So that’s why I’ve had that one on there, as in it’s modified configuration, it was great, and I figured, how hard can it really be to get the unwanted stuff off?

The bigger problem I’m having here, again is the models of each individual holster- Looking at Safariland’s site, they never list the #s for the G17 w/ light- only says “G20/21” and then a list of lights afterwards, or just lists a whole bunch of other weird lights for the 17’s and such.
Here:

If I’m looking at the “will fit” chart right, you’re looking for a 6354-832-131. There have been reports of some examples of these holsters not fitting the Ultra’s correctly, and have to be modded slightly. Should allow you to wear the BB over it.

Is this what you’re trying to assemble? If so I can give you my parts list.

I have the same issue… Difficult to figure out just what parts one needs to make things work…

I have the Safariland 6305-383-541 thigh rig set up for a Glock 20.
I would like to utilize the QLS system to be able to take the actual holster off of the thigh rig and mount to a Universal Belt Loop. I am looking to purchase a 6395 for both a S&W M&P and a G19 and then be able to swap the various holsters between the thigh rig and the Universal Belt Loop that comes with the 6395.

  1. Is this possible?
  2. What QLS parts do I need?

Part Numbers as I see them:
Safariland 6395-219-131
6395 ALS Low-Ride Level I Retention Duty Holster
S&W M&P 9mm STX Tactical, Right Handed

Safariland 6395-283-131
6395 ALS Low-Ride Level I Retention Duty Holster
Glock 19 (4" bbl), STX Tactical, Right Handed

I think these two holsters are close to the 6305 in terms of function and I don’t care if the colors match, I just want to be able to mount any of the holsters on the thing rig and use the QLS system for other possibilities.

Any one using the QLS system?

Where is the “131” coming from on that chart? I see the other numbers on the chart, but not that…

I believe it should work with the X300U- this came up in a previous thread I started about the lights (https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?p=1445837) and the guys that used Safari holsters seemed to be working ok.
But then again, if that’s an issue specifically with the 6354, than that could be a problem…

Close, but I want the holster completely off the BB, attached to my daily wear belt under it instead.

Dammit M_Rapp, now you’ve made me look at another one of these darn holsters! :stuck_out_tongue:
Actually, that might make a nice alternative to the 6365.

Part # for the 6395 with an X300?
I’m guessing 6395-832-411 or -131?
(column on chart is blank all the way down- used # on website)

M,

Ive been playing around with the QLS attachments and it works surprisingly well. All you need are the following components. The kit comes with the needed attachment hardware.

I have had a few safariland holsters. Love them but my new fav is the g-code holster. I like that I can switch the cowling from a light mounted to in mounted.

Got any pictures or links?

Range5.com

Also allows for the use of quick detach from multiple platforms. Drop leg, paddle, belt slide, molle forks etc.

I was in your shoes recently. I wound up with a 6395 for my G19 with TLR-1 from copsplus.com and mounted it to a HSGI suregrip belt.

http://www.copsplus.com/prodnum12876.php

It comes with the ALS guard, which can be removed. ALS only, no other retention feature.

6354-832-121 (ALS only drop leg, level I)
6365-832-121 (ALS & SLS low ride belt mounted holster - level III)
6004-836-121 (SLS only, drop leg, Level II - not an ALS)

Now, it seems that some of the holsters I listed there may or may not come in the flavor I want- I have no idea based on what I’ve seen so far, so if I’m wrong do correct me and point out the right one.

2) Also, do the 6365 belt mounted types come in different drop heights? In the various pictures, sometimes it looks like a lower drop, and others a higher almost belt-height drop length. Wrong pictures matched to the product, or different sizes?

The 6360 is the mid ride version, Level III, ALS and SLS. The 6365 is the low ride version of the same holster.

The 6365 ALS was the one I borrowed to use a while back, and it sat at just about the perfect drop height, but of course I didn’t have time to get a measurement…it was below the belt though, and had been modded with a single leg strap.

No idea on whether it will clear the outer belt or not… haven’t tried that combo.

Best bet would be to mount the holster on a QLS assembly, then move it onto the battle belt from your inner belt if necessary.

Once you have the holster, you can mount it on a 6004-10 single leg shroud, or on a UBL, or a belt mount, etc. The 3 mounting holes on the back of every Safariland holster let you mount it on all of their different mounts.

Confirm 121 or 131?

Previous posts had is as three…

Although, actually that link to Holster Ops is promising- they have what I want in an easy to undersand format, so I may try ordering from them.

Your welcome lol. But fwiw I have put in a few orders with them and have not had any issues. I received status and shipping updates promptly too. I have not ordered any holsters from them so I can not say whether or not their 3-4 week lead time from the factory is an accurate estimate.

The 6004 series uses 121 for the STX Tactical finish designation.
http://safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6004

The 6355 uses 131 as the STX Tactical finish designation:
http://safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6355

The 6390 also uses the 131 as the STX Tactical finish designation:
http://safariland.com/DutyGear/product.aspx?pid=6390

Both numbers mean the same thing, and different vendors might have it labeled one way or another due to the resulting confusion. Either way, if you see 12 or 13 as the finish codes, you’ll get an STX Tactical black holster.

+1 for Copsplus. Most online Safariland dealers use dop shipping from the manufacture, making my wait longer since I’m a lefty. I’ve used the ALS system for a while on duty and it is by far the best rig I’ve used. Choose your ALS holster and get a drop leg platform as well. Next get a complete set of QLS attachments and you will be able to utilize your holster between two platforms. I like this setup since I like to have a training rig in addition to my duty setup. The QLS system makes life easier and is also cheaper if your using various rigs. I happened to get the QLS with locking mechanism for duty, and for some reason it didn’t have the clearance needed to disengage, I ended up cutting off the small plastic locking mechanisms and only use the non locking model now.

I see.Thanks.
