For those who have installed the Apex Trigger upgrades (duty kit with trigger) how difficult was it? I am interested in getting the upgrades, but undecided as to whether I should attempt to install it myself, or send it in to Apex and have them do it. Bear in mind that I am not that mechanically inclined. I swapped out OEM Glock 19 parts with Vickers mag catch, slide stop, and (-) connector with smooth G17 trigger. How does the install of Apex trigger upgrades compare to that in terms of difficulty?
It’s easy peasy, about as similar as working on a glock. I actually have an unopened Apex shield kit that I ended up never using, pm me if you want it, cheaper than retail.
FWIW…the pull weight of my new Shield was too heavy so i just bought the fully machined sear from Apex(100-063) and replaced only that part. My trigger pull went from 8 lbs+ to 4.5-5 lbs…Mike
My Shield rear sight was a B I T C H to get off. Brass punch didn’t work.
Steel on what ever the base is made of. Changed the SB out with an APEX USB.
JUST as Bad reinstalling the rear sight… Looks like a shade tree gunsmith did it…
APEX SEAR and springs trigger is set at 4 lb 8-9 oz.
As tight as they are, I have to wonder if smith is cooling the sights before install. Where I work we use liquid nitrogen to cool certain parts we press fit, and trust me, when they warm up, it takes a massive press to remove them. If and when I remove mine, I’m going to get some of that wart freeze spray and chill the shit out of that sight base.
