my dad has a new, blued in the box 59 that he is looking to sell, its unfired with 2 mags.box and cleaning brush. Its nice looking for what it is.what should he ask for it?also is there anything that stands out about them?are they collectors items or sought after or is it just a new old pistol?
When they first came out they were one of the first in my area that were issued to LEO. The only issue was that they had a recall for them to be rotated back to S&W. They would once in a while go full auto all of the sudden.
I only saw it once at auto pistol instructors school on London Oh. With the high cap mag it was cool to watch in the next lane.
You might check the gun auction sites to see what these guns are selling for.
The fact it’s still unfired, NIB, with the box, ect. adds some to it’s value.
Whether it has any collectors value? If there is anyone collecting these guns, the condition of your fathers gun makes it desirable.
Send me some pictures of the gun and the box. S&W had several versions, dash numbers, etc.
Fixed or adjustable sights?
You know, the King had one of these…
TCB
adjustable,I always believed the king brought his back home with him so it wouldn’t have been his.
Does it have protective wings on the rear sight or does it look more like a revolver rear sight?
Tell him to keep the 59 and sell that damn Taurus.
you’ve tried telling him what to do one time if I recall correctly?
Alright, suggest strongly to him to keep the S&W or sell it to you cheap and sell his Taurus.
This would go great with that Ithaca M37…
The Model 59 was the first to combine double action and high capacity…beat out the Europeans.
Pics…

I think it needs a new home in RVA
