I’ve really got this desire to purchase a revolver. I’ve decided I want a mod. 19-4 or earliier 2 1/2" pinned and recessed. Haven’t made up my mind on finish, blued or nickel. That being said, can anyone give me a fair price check? Condition: Excellent to LNIB 98% with box, manuals, matching numbers, etc. Thanks.
Revolver prices are going through the roof these last few years. I’ve never seen a 19 in the condition you described that is under $500. Like you I always wanted a similar gun, a 66 with 2.5" barrel. I finally found one and paid $600 for it. Go for it, if it’s your dream gun.
That’s kind of where I was at, looking at prices around the net and saw one in the local shop. Just thought that was a bit high initially but seems like that’s the going rate as of now. Thanks for the input!
I got a ~90% 66-1 for $470 off Gunbroker last year. $500 seems to be the going rate for the 2.5" K-frames.
The short barreled guns seem to command more of a premium. The best I can tell you is to hang out on the auction sites looking for a deal. A few years ago I snagged 2 excellent condition model 19’s with a 4" barrel for $125 each. Bid on 2 revolvers thinking there was no way either would sell for that little, ended up winning both. The later model didn’t even have a drag line and came in the original box with papers and everything.
P&R is going to command a premium as well.
