Hey guys I need little help please. I just purchased a new M&P9 and noticed the slide does not say stainless. Also the rear of the frame where the thumb safety would be looks different as well. Why the change?
The frame looks different because it has the thumb safety plugs. You could add a thumb safety to that M&P. There have been rumors floating around the errornet that Smith was planning to standardize the M&P frames.
Just looked at my M&P9 and the slide does not say stainless either.
Those are the new plastic slide ones.
I believe that the slide doesn’t say stainless because s&w don’t use stainless anymore. They melonite the slide and barrels. I have a 9c made this past summer, and it doesn’t say stainless either.
All my 2012 M&P pistols do not say stainless either. My frames look like the second pic.

Just picked one up Sat. mine looks the same way. Did yours look like they had ran a few rounds through it?
Please just take a magnet to your slide. From there, you can just claim its made of t7075 now.
