S&W M&P factory mags any good?

I noticed the factory 30 rouns S&W mags are 30 bucks a pop. Are they anygood. Or should a person just invest in a pmag? A rumor I heard at my local Gun shop was PMags are great till you load em with anything over a 50 grn round! Any truth to this or is it just BS? The oppisite rumor on the Smith mags that they work well with any grain. I dont take rumors to seriously only facts… From what I have read on this forum PMags are some of the best, but I have not saw anything on them concerning problems with certain grain bullets.

Im asking this because I want to stock up on a few good quility Mags incase Barrack Osama Hussien gets elected and his puppeters start banning everthing thats Black left and right…

That’s called paying more for a mag due to manufactorer’s markup. It is not necessary in the case of AR mags…

Or should a person just invest in a pmag?

PMAGS are great mags and are very durable. Just look up the torture tests. Many of the AR users on this site, particuarly the ones that do a lot of shooting and hard use, use PMAGS.

Total BS. I run 55 grn loads in PMAGS, and others use heaver/longer (I’m just a po’ college student)

The gun shop rumor is blowing smoke. Don’t believe them.

Then you are looking to buy PMAGS and keeping your eye out for deals like the Bravo Company mags- $10 a pop. PMAGS for $15/pop. Think about it. For the price of an overpriced S&W mag, you could buy 3 Bravo Company aluminum mags or two PMAGS.

Surely other, more experienced, members of this site will be hear to offer in depth technical details of PMAGS and such. I’m just letting you know the gunshop is BSing you…are they selling S&W mags at $30 apiece?

Good mags, but not worth any more than $11.95.

Or should a person just invest in a pmag?

Yes.

Gun stores are generally the worst place for information. PMAG’s work with any grain ammo.

PMAG’s are the way to go.

C4

They will also work with other calibers. A friend uses 20 round Pmags in his 300 Whisper using 240 grain bullets. They work fabulously.

Regarding the original question, are the S&W mags any good. I’m sure they’re fine, but you can get quality mags for less than half the price you quoted, so why buy the S&W mags?

That is a new one. What jerk made that one up? I am still amazed at the amount of bs that is passed around.

Let me guess… They have the OEM mags in stock, but don’t stock the PMags? The SW mag is a GI type mag, upcharged for brand. No better, no worse.

If so inclined, ask how the grain of the bullet impacts magazine function. Bring popcorn, waders, and camcorder.

Thanks guys I suspected that what I heard was BS! Im going to just buy lots of PMAGS and skip the double priced S&W mags. I saw someone on here had a picture of a PMag with a bullet hole in it that still funtioned. Thats tough…

Ive got one or two PMAGS.

:eek::eek:

Are they actually made by S&W, or by some other manufacturer, with the S&W stamped on?

Well where is the cheapest place online to get PMags??? As far as the S&W mags id bet S&W contrats them out somewhere else, but I cant tell you where or who.

The M&P 15 magazine was not worth 11.95. Rifle: goooood. Magazine: baaaaaad.

I use both PMags and USGI aluminum mags. If you’re going with aluminum mags; replace the green follower that comes stock on the mags with Magpuls self leveling followers. for less than $2 they do make a world of difference with increased feed reliability in GI mags, IMHO.

I would definately like to hear the gun store employee be specific and explain all that bullshit he was spewing out. I love my m&p 15, but i would not pay more than ten or eleven dollars for a S&W mag. My smith actually came with an NHMTG mag, so thats probobly who makes 'em for smith. PMAGS all the way without a doubt. Once you buy a Pmag, you wont want anything else
