Any body having a problem with ammo not fitting? I have purchased 500 rounds of remaned from 223 military brass,from a reputable manufacture and I had 25 that would not chamber in my rifle. The rifle is a factory S&W MP-15 in 300 whisper. I called and talked to them, they were very helpful. They sent a RA, I sent the rounds back. They called me and said that all the rounds fit into a wilson case gauge. They said that I might have a tight chamber, they have the most problems with the 300 blackout than any of their other ammo. They send me a box of 50 to replace the “bad” once I sent back. Of the 50 new round three will not chamber in my rifle.
Anybody else have this problem? I have fired about 100 rounds of factory head stamped 300 blackout with zero problems
Did you purchase “300 whisper” ammo or 300 blackout? 300 whisper is a wildcat with no SAMMI measurements.
If your rifle is chambered for 300 whisper it may have a tighter chamber that is not to 300 blackout SAMMI spec.
Also if the ammo company is a reloading company they may not understand that there are cases with necks too thick to load 300blk and will cause the round to be out of spec regardless of case length and shoulder placement.
Your chamber might be at the lower end of the spec. I had some reload ammo that some rounds wouldn’t chamber completely in two different glocks, put it in a S&W shield and it ate every round without a problem.
The rifle has “300 Whisper/300 AAC Blackout” on the barrel. I can’t get a straight answer from S&W as what reamer they are using, all they tell me is that it will shoot both with no problem. I bought the rounds from OZARK ORDNANCE, they are 300 Blackout rounds.
Very true. Some 223 case walls are thicker than others where the 300BLK case mouth needs to be cut to. I have seen this problem when converting PPU brass mainly. I usually just chunk it.
If it will fire both, it is a 300 AAC Blackout chamber. 300 Whisper should work just fine. Sort of like 223 in a 5.56.
Have a buddy with similar issues with factory Hornady 110 vmax rounds in his Noveske Barrel. It will shoot them fine, but unloading a live round will sometimes unseat the bullet and just eject the case. His seems a little tight.
