I purchased a S&S Precision Kangaroo Insert through an authorized distributor. I received my Insert to find it didn’t retain magazines properly. I was a bit disappointed due to the expense of the product, and lack of quality control. I understand problems happen. I contacted S&S who had me contact the retailer. I found it a bit odd as it clearly wasn’t the retailers fault being a manufacture issue.
The dealer asked me to send the product back at my own expense. I declined and asked S&S to send me a shipping label. I sent back my old insert, and later received my new one.
Everything should be good, right? Magazine retention is good all is well. I go to put it in my plate carrier, doesn’t fit ( specifically designed for this carrier ). I contact S&S, they ask me to send some pictures; I send the pictures. They ask me to send the plate carrier and insert; I do.
I received my first insert on 08/21/2012
They received my plate carrier and insert on 08/30/2012 11/20/2012, yet to receive my plate carrier and insert back…
I called in asking on a status update a few times, first time they said I would be contacted at the end of the day… never was. The second time, I was told they would contact me as they had an update… still waiting.
Basically, good company, good gear, but too dependent on QC of Vest manufacturer.
The Kangaroo is designed for the LBT full wrap LBT 6094 plate carrier. The simple act of bar tacking the front plate kangaroo pouch as little as a couple of MM’s will prevent the S&S pocket from being inserted in the pouch.
I had an earlier made S&S Kangaroo and it worked with all my LBT plate carriers…I have moved to my 762 platforms with the Colt 901 and SCAR17s coming out in quantity.
I went to LBT the other day and looked at a new Multicam 6094 in the showroom and tried to insert a S&S Kangaroo and it was a no go…it is a simple rework by LBT to make it work, but still has to go to them for restitch.
S&S is a good company…but the variations between plate carriers will ultimately require a redesign or discontinuation of this product.
Email Johnny or Drew direct…or try giving them a call.
