S&B flashdot Zenith 1.5–6 x 42 for LMT MWS?

Here’s the rifle:

So, I was thinking about a Nightforce 2.5-10 but have the opportunity to buy an S&B Zenith 1.5–6 x 42 flashdot scope from a buddy for a really good price. Second one down on this page:

Reticle is #7, so no mildots or ranging. This is not a military/LE scope, it is from their sporting/hunting line. I have no idea if this means less ruggedness/water resistance/battery life/whatever.
It is illuminated, and daylight visible at the brightest settings.

Mission drives equipment, so here is my intended use for the rifle. Majority of shooting will be from 50-400 yards (KD, UKD, and occasional “stress” shoot) with occasional shooting at longer ranges primarily for fun and as a confidence builder. Daylight and low light. Occasional CQB drills; flashdot is pretty bright and dialled down to 1.5x, I would think it would be fairly fast. This is not a duty weapon, nor will ever be (unless our dept. policy changes dramatically). However, I enjoy owning and shooting capable, versatile weapons.
I will probably use the rifle at some kind of urban sniper/precision rifle course, possibly Paul Howe/CSAT.
I’m not a school trained sniper, understand mil dot range estimation but have zero practical experience with it.

More thoughts:
-S&B quality glass for used Meopta price= no brainer
-1.5-6 power sounds just about perfect for DMR type rifle
-price difference lets me buy a lot more ammo, training
-if I get to the point that I need more features, I can always sell the S&B to finance something else, and will likely get out of it what I paid for it.

Downsides:
-Heavy
-No rangefinding reticle
-no “target” knobs

I had a short dot once, sold it and have regretted it ever since.
Wondering what the M4C hive mind has to say about this. Thanks in advance.

ETA: I am aware of the new crop of low power variables, would love to have one but can’t justify the expense. My upper limit on an optic for this rifle is $1700-ish.

I would love to have that scope for my 6.8!

Don’t think your going to regret either decision on that one.

Both great glass & kit.
