Russian round

Has anyone heard of a 9x64 cartridge? A friend was telling me it is supposed to be a new Russian round they are chambering the SVD in. Just trying to confirm or not if it is out there and any data if it is.

I was only aware of the 9x39 round that I believe the VSS uses.

If you’re referring to the 9.3x64, that is used in the SVDK rifle.

Yup. Brenneke developed in the 1920s. I assume they’re using updated bullets and powder.

That’s new to me at least. Interesting reading material, I’ve always appreciated the Russian alternative school of thought.
