Russian FSB w/ US built AK goodies (pics)

Now for the ITAR stuff. ITAR is not a mythical creature and it’s not something that can’t be defeated.

Quite simply, if we believe the pic is real. Then it would be very easy if said Komrad had a family member in the U.S who bought the items and mailed them over.

It could be that some of these items were legally exported to another country and then the parts were resold.

It’s also possible that they are Chinese airsoft copies. We have idiots in this country that put such parts on real guns, so it stands to reason that the Russians also have such morons in their borders.

I dont thinik they are the same gun, their are differences between the two. Secondly as the poster above me stated, look at all the Chinese copies of stuff you can find on ebay no reason why anyone in Russia could purchase from there.

There is no chinese stock knockoff for the AK at this point for Airsoft, neither is their a grip, AFG etc for it. Only thing that would be knocked off would be the Aimpoint, mount, and laser. GBBR’s have no true chinese knockoffs yet, even though companies like WE tech are trying as hard as they can to do so… they just haven’t conquered the “AK” realm yet.

If you compare the two pics, there are some very distinct commonalities, such as the paint fading on the charging handle and MBUS, as well as the trimmed stock, etc. The first pic is obviously real, with a real gun (unless Putin decided to hang out with some Russian airsoft goobers). So it stands to reason that the second pic is real too.

The first pic could be a Photoshop job, but I seriously doubt it. Does anyone know what the origin of that pic is? That would go a long way towards explaining things.

I dont see why anyone would (or could, for that matter) photoshop that gun onto that image. It looks quite genuine. The explanation behind the pic presented at TOS was that its some special Spetsnaz/Alpha/FSB whatever soldiers who, as we can see, are meeting with Putin. Its likely that the guy has permission to do whatever the hell he wants to his rifle and has modified it accordingly. Goofy looking or not, I’d wager those guys are not to be fucked with.

I certainly wouldn’t want to be staring down the business end of that goofy thing

Why in the second pic is he wearing multi cam? That’s not exactly issue.

I guarantee that the second picture is some european airsoft goober. He probably found that first picture on the web, thought it was the most bad-ass thing he ever saw, and spared absolutely no expense putting his kit together.

UPDATE…

I used my Google Search-Fu and found the website supporting my claims. Scroll down the linked page…

Good find. Cannot believe someone would go to that extent on a replica gun. I bet the toy is just as expensive as the real deal, sans PEQ unit. I guess airsoft guns have come along way…I handled a guys Japanese made AKS47 back in college and theres no way real weapon accessories like the TWS and US Palm could have fit.

Anyway, back on topic. I wonder how bad the sight offset is on this gun.

Thanks for posting that.

DOS relagates the enforcment of there ITAR laws to other agencies. IMO the DOS screws the little guy for the benifit of companies like Boing who have no problems selling just about anything overseas with a “waiver”.

Stranger and stranger…no doubt there are some airsoft dweebs using those pics to build up a replica…

But then I find these videos…apparently a Russian competition.

I WANT that stock adapter. Anyone know how that’s being done/see that anywhere else? As of right now, I don’t know of any way to get a shorter stock on an AK that has the Russian 100 series (or the Bulgarian small pin equivalent) side folding stock.

I’ve been saying that the TWS is the best optic mount ever made for the AK. I hope images like this bring TWS plenty of business.

ETA: It feels kind of odd that my current setup looks a lot like that, and I thought it was a completely original idea… Kind of freaky.

It shouldn’t be super hard to make. The actual part of the stock that the latch latches into is just a hinge, a flat section at a certain distance, and a cutout to latch into. Anything behind that can be whatever you want (cylinder to put on an AR stock, for example). I don’t pretend to know how those were done, but you could, for example, take an AK-100 stock or triangle, cut the stock off, drill through the remaining metal and attach your cylinder of appropriate size for the AR stock. Should be relatively straightforward to fab one up

Ditto. Kinda sucks having to choose between having a rock solid folder (AK100 type) or having a good cheekweld (VLTOR AR adapter). Whoever starts making an AR stock adapter for the 100 series will sell tons of them. I know that they wouldn’t lock in the folded position, especially with a wider stock like the SOPMOD, but it would still fold enough to be useful.

Is your base gun a 100 series? I know ACE makes a setup where you can have a folding AR type stock. It involves cutting the tang for installation, but its a very flush fitting, compact solution. Doesnt, of course, work on the 100 series stock trunnions though.

That ACE setup is what I’d like but, as you mentioned, it won’t work because the SLR-106 has a Bulgarian small-pin version of the 100 series stock.

If you have a fixed stock AK, the ACE looks like a really attractive option.

I’d be happy if I could just shorten the current stock 1.5-2". I don’t necessarily need an AR stock.

Buying a spare stock ($$$) and hacking it up, only to have to buy an additional item to bolt to it to allow for the collapsing stock is just too much.

Btw, here is a quote about that picture :

“Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin (L) shakes hands with local Federal Security Service (FSB) special forces officers during a visit to the Chechnya’s second-largest city, Gudermes, on December 20, 2011.”

So these pics aren’t airsoft, and def wouldn’t be Chinese clones. The pic in the multi-cam however is an airsofter, because if I’m not mistaken, the US military is the only utilizer of true Multi-Cam now (someone correct me if I’m wrong though, as I’m not military, and just going off of he said she said shit from buddies in the Army).

And lolol on the gear queer comment. If you see the pic of all of them standing there, hes the only one with such a hokey pos.
