When I first ordered my SilencerCo Specwar I took note of the 1.5" diameter listed in the specs sheet and ordered handguards accordingly since I intended to run the suppressor under the rail on a couple of my guns. However, when my suppressor came in and I tried to put this into practice the O.D. of the lock ring was too big to fit inside certain handguards. Obviously the lock ring has a purpose but is it ok to run the suppressor without it?
Why don’t you contact SilencerCo direct and get it from them?
What you are asking is not the correct way to utilize the ASR mount. You should contact SilencerCo. to get an official answer, but if you ask me, you are going to get bad results if you mount the suppressor incorrectly.
You should have gotten a Saker if you wanted it to go under a rail.
If i’m understanding this correctly, you want to essentially use this suppressor as a direct thread by not utilizing the locking ring. If that is the case, i would totally disagree with using it in that manner. We all know true direct thread cans tend to back off when shot. The Specwar has MAYBE 2 turns onto a wide thread before you completely seat on the shoulder of the muzzle device in order to bottom out and use the lock ring. IMO if you do not use that lock ring you are asking for trouble and will most likely destroy that suppressor. I also don’t work for SilencerCo and would recommend contacting them regarding your question.
Most likely a very bad idea; I wouldn’t even consider doing such a thing. It might stay on one or two rounds (maybe), but probably by the third you’d have a projectile coming out of the side. I doubt SilencerCo would give you the thumbs up on doing it. However, I would be interested to hear the results if you do end up trying it. :no:
