Ruger LCP 380

Anyone have one of these? Was thinking on getting one of these for conceal carry. I have the S&W M&P now 9mm but normally only carry in my vehicle. I was thinking maybe this LCP would fit in my pocket with pocket carry holster.

A viable option for deepest concealment, a BUG (2nd or 3rd +). The LCP has been discussed at length here. If you search for “Ruger LCP” and “LCP 380” you’ll find a bunch of hits with lots of information.

I have one and carry it quite frequently. I usually wear a tucked in button-down shirt and that makes carrying my G19 impractical. The LCP is great to just shove in my pocket in a little holster.

That being said, it is incredibly snappy and the trigger is the worst trigger that I’ve ever had the displeasure of pulling. Really, it’s horrid.

Cool thanks for the info guys.

I would never carry that junk. Useless round in a junk gun.

There is no situation where I’d try to fight with any 380… let alone a complete turd like the LCP… I would NEVER stack the deck against myself like that.

For super deep concealment, I’ve run a G27 in an ankle holster… better a real gun on the ankle than a cracker jack piece of shit in my pocket.

I have one and like it. Runs great.

Carry mine daily. Good little pocket weapon for getting someone off of you,not made for shooting across the way. Personal protection !! Hard to “ankle” carry in the summer down south in shorts without attracting attention

Literal pain to shoot. The grip is just too narrow to do so comfortably. It serves its niche well I suppose.

Just get one and try it. At $270 you’ll have 0 buyers remorse and there’s always someone out there that’ll buy it if you don’t end up liking it.

I carry the S&W M&P9 FS every day with no problem. I am 5’10" and 175 lbs. and I easily conceal year round.

I would only consider the LCP as a backup gun.

How do you really feel about the LCP? lol. FWIW, I have less malfunctions with my LCP (ZERO) than I do my G26.

Tell you what, let’s stand about 15 yards apart. I’ll take an LCP and you take a rock, we will see who wins that fight.

I’ll take a LCP in my pocket over a Glock 27 on my ankle 9 times out of 10.
Ankle carry is a much bigger compromise in your fighting ability than carrying a .380.

Too many decent single stack mini-nines on the market for me to step down to a .380 if I needed a small pocket gun.I’d probably go with a PPS or CM9,myself.

Go get a beretta nano or a Kahr CM9. Roughly a hundred more and a much better round. They also have much better triggers without the fake reset point the rugers have. While I could do decent with my LCP I sold it because of the fake reset point. I was used to letting the trigger go to reset and more then a few times while shooting drills that fake reset point screwed me up. On top of that I could never warm up to the .380 or its cost for practice ammo.

I’ve shot alot of peoples micro pistols, in my opinion there pretty useless. There all pretty snappy and direct most of the recoil to the web of your hand making the additional practice needed to shoot them well unlikely to occur for most people. If your really dedicated l would suppose you could learn to shoot one well enough, but seriously they all have an annoying sharp recoil- not a range gun.

My real concern with micro pistols is that most of them do not run very reliably. The reason most dont run reliably is due to the fact that they have to be held almost perfectly or they will stovepipe quite frequently. l’ve actually had to shoot some peoples pistol to prove it isnt the pistol its actually them limpwristing. This is not at all an uncommon experience in my observation of/helping people shoot micro pistols.

A fair amount of people cant even manage to shoot these things without limpwristing and stovepipes (when actually focussing and trying not to do so) in a no stress range environment. In a real life shooting under pressure firing from a weird position l wouldnt like my odds of a shooter induced ftf/stovepipe.

If you really must have a tiny gun l’d get a revolver for reliability sake.

I’m by no means a pistol expert or have any type formal training so do realise its just the opinion of a casual shooter.

I’m with markm and others on this one. Only shot once , found it not
worth the effort, and I shot it better than its owner. Many single stack
9mm options out there. Walther PPS immediately comes to mind, someone next to me had just bought one and was struggling a bit with accuracy, asked me to shoot it and I grouped a mag onto a 3"
paster at 10yrds first time shooting it. 9mm is the smallest caliber I
feel anyone should carry and its what I shoot.
Live in Florida, my main carry is G19. At work where I have to wear
a tucked in shirt I’ll carry a G26 or HK P7 PSP in a Galco ankle holster
(they both fit in the same holster with 2 mods) or I’ll wear the HK P7 in an IWB tuckable with or without shorts. The P7 by the way is the only gun thin enough I’ve been able to pull off in a tuckable holster without looking like I have a cancerous growth on my side.

Both the G26 and HK P7 PSP have run flawlessly for me and I run them with Ranger 127gr +P+.

I occasionally carry the Keltec P3AT in my pocket or iwb when I can’t carry anything else. While 380 may not be ideal, its better than nothing and from what I have seen in my lifetime it works for what it is. Just had a case here earlier this week where a woman shot the would be robber twice…one in the arm and one in the chest. End result was the guy stopped his advance, ran outside and died after calling 911 for himself.

My point is while 380 isn’t the most effective caliber, the reality is that nobody likes to hang around to see what you have once the shooting starts. It does have its place in concealed carry, however you have to know its limitations.

My buddy had one and I carried it a few times to try it out.

Freaking TINY little gun. Not easy to shoot but I managed to keep most of my shots inside an 8" bullseye at 10 yards. Thats about all I could say about it. Definitely "the one that you have "so to speak

I have a s&w bodyguard 380 that I really love. same size as the lcp but about half the perceived recoil, sturdier frame, better grip, real iron sights, second strike capability, and an integrated laser.

the only issue (abeit a large one) I have had is some light strikes which s&w is currently fixing for free. as long as its fixed this gun is the perfect pocket carry.

as for the 380 round… p+ FMJ and placement placement placement.
