Nice.

Black Ghost,

Keep an eye on your charging handle; those latches can put a ton extra side pressure it. It will first cause the anodizing to come of the opposite side of the latch, just keep an eye out for small fractures (if you run it hard).

I wouldnt run it any other way

Any recomendations for the charging handle then? I am starting to notice that the finish is wearing off now that you mentioned it

I would go with either the PRI or what I am currently using, the new LMT charging handle

The PRI is a complete RIPOFF if you are not using a can.

I just upgraded to the DPMS Steel Charging Handle. You can pretty much put any latch on that you want.

I still vote LMT;)

I disagree that the PRI Gas Buster is a “ripoff”. It is built like a tank, and it keeps a lot of the blow-back out of your face, especially during extended training sessions. And at $90, it is only $30 more than the DPMS steel CH, and it comes with their Combat latch included for that price. Most after-market latches will run you about $20 anyway, so their is only about a $10 difference in the end.

Expensive for a charging handle? Yes, but it will last most shooters the life-time of their rifle. I have been running the same PRI Gas Buster for 5 years now, and I have done my best to break it, and it will not comply with my efforts;)

BTW, Nice rifle set-up you have there. I would highly recommend upgrading the bolt carrier group by simply replacing the stock extractor spring and spring insert with one of Bravo Companies “Extractor Spring Upgrade” kits: http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Extractor-Spring-Uprade-Kit-p/bcm%20extractor%20spring%20upgrade.htm
I recently did a “reliability package” on a co-workers new RRA Entry Tactical, and the extractor spring was compressed to the point that he had almost zero extractor pressure. All of the RRA factory rifles I have seen/worked on needed to have the gas key on the bolt carrier properly staked.

Having these two basic/low cost upgrades done to your rifle should ensure that you have a reliable gun in the future.

Well right off the bat im gonna go ahead and upgrade the extractor … ONly have one question, the Gas Buster charging handle says that it diverts gases away from the shooters face. If by doing that it diverts it to the right side of the rifle it wont work for me because i am left handed. Just wondering if thats the case

I believe it blows the gases downward. (Not 100% on this), but a friend who attended a 2-day carbine course with me last summer (a lefty shooter) using a standard CH had a nice, silver dollar sized carbon mark on his cheek. Another lefty shooter at the class was running as PRI GasBuster, and did not have any carbon on his face. He stated the GasBuster cured that for him as well.

Well if thats the case ill have to look into that… i always wind up gettting a few puffs of sh*t in my face no matter what (yes i checked the gas rings) so if that will cure it its worth a few bucks i guess
