Romanian Surplus

Quick Question,

I came across some steel core Romanian Surplus 5.56 for insanely cheap. I picked up a hundred rounds for my friends new M4 and we’re going to go shooting some time this week. Anyone had an experience with this surplus ammo???

Can you be more specific about the ammo? Maybe some pics or where it was purchased?

The stamp says: SADU 5.56 and there is either a 80 stamp, or a 08 stamp. I can’t tell as the SADU, and the 5.56 read in different directions.

It was bought at a local store called Collectors Guns and Ammo, and was being sold alongside other bulk PRVI, and some stuff from South Africa, as well as Federal, Hornady, Wolf, Remington ext.

No one?

So I have decided to update everyone on this ammo so that I can help prevent anyone using the search function on this site from purchasing it in the future!!!

My friend and I have recently pushed through over 600 rounds in the last two weeks. The ammo was primarily Remington .223, and Wolf, with this Romanian Ammo periodically mixed in. Spread across two guns, mine and his, and over three sessions. I intentionally shot the Romanian at different times in all sessions.

To read about my first failure with this ammo you can go here:

For some reason this thread was closed, but I think it was because it was getting off track. Anyway as you can read I had a failure to extract that required a cleaning rod.

Well after this situation I had one extremely funky round that had a literal cracked casing that I pulled from the ammo lot. I also had two more of the exact same failures as before. One right after the other, both resulted in ripped casings that required a rod to remove.

I still have 20 rounds of this ammo, and am currently waiting on an H buffer for my gun before I run it.

Needless to say I will not be purchasing this ammo any more.

Thanks for the update. It is always good to see 1st hand information on something like this.
