I have a chamber brush for my ARs. It seemed like a good idea. It seems to me that you would want to twist the brush in the chamber though and I can’t find a rod with a fixed handle. Anybody know of a reasonably-priced short, nonswivelling-handle rod, or is twisting the brush not needed? I used to have a long barreled S&W 27 that came with a rod that was just bent in a loop at the end for a handle which would work great, but can’t find anything like that anymore.
I have been using the rod that came with the cleaning kit, I just clamped a small vise grip to the rod. You can also find the type of rod you are looking for at most gun shows.
Thanks, It’s now on my wish list at Midway.
I use a pro shot pistol cleaning rod.
The handle is fixed and works great with chamber brushes.

I use a shotgun cleaning rod from a kit I picked up god knows how many years ago. It has a plastic handle that screws onto one end, and the very thick rod doesn’t bend at all while wrenching on the cleaning brush.
+1 on the Dewey chamber rod.

Works well if you like bent handles and it’s about $6 cheaper.
Use the USGI handle. There are flats on the rod and a hole in the end of the handle part just for this purpose. Simply insert rod section into the hole and slide the handle up to the flats and turn it.
My chamber cleaning method is to take a section of a USGI rod, chuck it in a cordless drill, put the nylon AR chamber brush on the other end, dip it in Carbon Cutter, insert into chamber, and give it a few seconds on a low speed. Then rinse out with brake cleaner.
Done it to all my AR’s and never caused a single issue or damage. They come out clean, its quick, and simple.
I use this. Works very well.
Now that I see it, I realize this is a Dewey rod that has been previously recommended. So I can endorse it as well.
+1 I’ve done this for a long time; works well.
I do the same but skip the brake cleaner and just use a mop and patch’s for finial clean up
