Yeah, it sucks. But in hindsight, now I have a match grade barrel, that most likely locks up tighter, then the original ever did. All I know is she is a very accurate machine, that seems to also be very reliable. I am very satisfied.

You did better than just that. Now you have a match grade barrel that is threaded and a comp!

The ‘fun factor’ went way up for me when I got my first comped 1911. Went up again when I learned how to reload for a comp and help it work even better.

Actually, the barrel is not threaded, and the comp acts as the barrel bushing, it is attached to the slide.
It’s still pretty cool though.

I own an Auto Ordnance M1 Carbine and it took a great deal of money and effort to get it to work reliably. If the quality of the 1911 is comparable, I would not buy one.

That has nothing to do with, M1 Carbines, made by the original company.

KAHR is building both. There are still issues with the carbines. I haven’t repaired one of their 1911’s since KAHR purchased the company.

I have a Range Officer chambered in 9mm and it’s a decent pistol. My only issue with it is that the leade in the barrel is cut a little long.

Bumping this sucker because I’d like to get one of RI’s 40 cal single stacks. I have tons of 40 ammo reloaded and running a 1911 40 would be way more efficient than shooting a 45 acp.

I can’t find a bad thing posted about the Ultra FS 40 cal.

I think I will see about a Tour the next time I’m in the Philippines.

I’m just not patient enough to go through the process of building another 1911. I would rather spend $1500 on a very nice used Colt and be done with it.

The gist of the replies above point to RI guns as buy and shoot as opposed to them being a base gun for building. I too have no interest in having to work a project to get it to run.

RIA has had a good reputation in context of budget guns for as long as I can remember. That’s a good thing because there really aren’t other choices for new 1911s in your preferred caliber. If ya want a new 1911 to help burn up your .40 reloads… I don’t see any reason to not click the buy button.

There’s a nice Dan Wesson, but I don’t want to spend 1800 for a blaster.
