Robinson Armament XCR "Over the Beach" Test Video

Robarm called me yesterday and asked if I could film and put together a video demonstrating the XCR’s “over the beach” capabilities. The purpose, "This video was made at the request of a military customer who wanted to see how the XCR fires “over the beach”.

The XCR with a 7.62x39 featured a 16" barrel. There was also a 7.62x39 Micro model with a 7.5" barrel

There was also a 5.56x45 XCR with a 16" barrel

Notice the very little to no drain time

Enjoy!

Too bad it son Youtube. DAMN NMCI network.

That’s all well and good, but can he do it while he is water skiing?

I’m assuming some testing was done with more PP gear on first before doing these shots? Would the performance be any different with 5.56 in place of 7.62x39?

Just for you

No difference from what I saw. Both performed perfect.

FromMyColdDeadHand: If you look closely at the subtitles that pop up every now and then in the video, you will notice that some of the uppers in that test “are” 5.56 and the results are the same.

I’ll ask the same thing here that I asked on Canadian Gun Nutz, to no effect there…

Are we seeing something worth being impressed by here, or is this a fundamental property of piston guns?

For example: the 416 will do this as well. I guess the ARs or other DI guns will not, but would ANY piston gun do this?

Would my VZ58 do this just as well? What about an AK? How about an M14? An SKS?

The analogy I used on CGN is this:

If somebody built me an igloo (I’m Canadian, it’s possible) and parked an excavator on top of it, okay, I would be impressed.

But if somebody built me an igloo and stored some beer in it, and then pulled the beer out and said, “LOOK! THIS IGLOO ACTUALLY KEPT YOUR BEER COLD!!!” I would not be quite as impressed.

So am I witnessing something that is a fundamental property of the igloo, or have Robarms built a really special igloo here?

The answer to your question would be if the other piston guns you mentioned performed the same after submersion and firing without draining, then no it is not impressive. But since I haven’t seen video of the other guns you mentioned doing the same, then yes, maybe it is noteworthy.

I can only assume it has to do with DI vs. IDI.

That is exactly the video I was thinking of when I mentioned the 416 vs. the Colt.

Right now I am kind of thinking this XCR demo is a bit of a “cold beer from the igloo” kind of a thing.

I REALLY want to like the XCR. It’s non-restricted in Canada, and available in x39 here now. A very appealing rifle on paper.

But every time I start looking in to them…I get warned off.

I am really rooting for them to have a great product but for the time being I just feel a little cold on the whole gun.

It’s not all piston guns. IIRC, the drain hole for the operating assembly was added to the 416 by request from a military customer awhile after it had already been fielded.

Dude, how do you have 7 vids, and yet no KMFDM on the soundtracks!? WTF, over?

They’re using music from Das Boot in the HK video.

Unterseegewehr, for the final victory.
