Seems that the daughter of the attacker is talking to the news.
Still seems as though there are conflicting witness statements.

Regardless of how stupid the events leading up to the shooting where, it still appears from what is documented about the incident that it was justified.
The fact that some of the witnesses gave statements that they didnt see a gun in his hands could simply mean that they were in a position that did not allow them to see his hands prior to the shooting and that doesn’t necessarily conflict with any other statements on-record. The statements from witnesses that observed him approach the Dodge truck with a gun in his hand holds more relevance than anything else that has been reported.
When I read the title of the article I would have bet it all that the daughter was going to be sobbing and claiming sainthood for the father…
But she sounds like she’s entertaining the possibility that Pops screwed up.
Yeah, same here. She seems to have her head on straight, all things considered.
WTF? The news said "he was never planning on USING the gun? Stupid asses. He PULLED A GUN! Bottom line…that was the only “mistake” that was made if you ask me.
Let me get in on page one, and state that if I see repeat performances
of the immaturity I witnessed in the first thread, accounts will be getting
infractions, and possibly temporary vacations.
Yeah. How can you tell me what a dead guys intentions were? ![]()
Victim, victim victim… that just sticks in my craw for some reason. I know there’s not really many other appropriate words but it kinda lays blame on whoever harmed the “victim”.
Either way, as has been said before, there’s no reason to get out of your vehicle over a road rage incident, let alone with a gun.
Exactly. Think from a jury standpoint if he was alive, only the shot hit his leg…“Your honor, my client was NOT gonna use this gun”.
Yeah, the word would be deceased or decedent. We don’t know that he was a “victim” do we? The victim might very well be the guy forced to shoot the deceased to protect his own life. This is what is called a vocabulary and used to be required to be a writer or a journalist but apparently is not anymore. Apparently now you can just use one word for any situation and the person who might have lawfully defended themselves can now just suck up being by implication a victimizer.
It really sticks in my craw as well to see these loaded words routinely used in what passes for a news piece.
Pulling your gun for any reason will generally get you some sort of negative attention unless you are wearing an easily distinguishable uniform of a PD or MIL unit - plan accordingly.
Update:
No charges to be filed in this case.

Interesting comments at the bottom of the article.
I like how the daughter says it was “overkill” , was it “rage” on the shooter’s standpoint? Or was it stopping the threat.
Neither the news nor anyone else can of course, but I’d say the most likely scenario was that he wanted to intimidate the other driver into submission while avoiding a physical confrontation. Then he could scream about what an idiot the kid was and how lucky he is that he didn’t decide to kick his ass.
Definitely not saying it was smart or what I would do (especially in AZ where so many carry), but it’s probably what he hoped to do. Either way, he made a big mistake exiting with the gun without a better plan.
I have one rule about carrying: it does not come out unless I need to use it. I do not TOUCH the gun at all except to strap it on and take it off at night, and very occasionally if I am somewhere where I have to disarm and can’t just ignore the signs (airport etc).
Normally, it is “hands off” and I ignore it and any question or thought about it. If someone asks if I am carrying (unless the questioner is LEO) I say NO. I do not touch it. I do not show it off. I do not do anything with it. Even amongst other gun guys. If I will be shooting it, say for practice or at the range, I do not strap it on in the first place and take it to the range in a case.
Such a policy should be had by most everyone who carries. Less likely to have this sort of problem from this thread, and less likely to have an accident.
