RMR 69 gr OTMs

LOL! I meant .223

Gotcha. I was thinking you meant 338 or .311 AK or something. I did run some 77 SMKs with 23.8 gr N140 and Tula SRMs. My notes say “sub MOA” and 2361 FPS from a 20” barrel. I still have almost 8 lbs, but never really worked it hard.

Thanks. I know you guys used to really like Varget. I was wondering how you thought it compared to N140.

Anyway, take care, Buzz

I really didn’t wring out N140. I bought it because we were having popped primer issues badly. The N140 didn’t make a big difference. It was better, but still a lot of swipes.

I’m thinking I ran out of the mellow Wolf SRMs and got into a hotter batch that caused spikes, but I still don’t know.

I couldn’t get a 75/77 to go near 2700 fps out of a 20” without big pressure symptoms.

As far as Varget, I only ran that in 308. With 6.5cm, I haven’t loaded as much 308.

77 SMK with N140 shoots fantastic in my experience

I’m going to have to revisit that combo soon. We’ve been blasting the 69 RMRs for the last month or two… just being lazy.

I get very good results with 24.5 gr N140 and RMR 75’s.

What primers are you running?

Firstly, I don’t shoot rifles nearly as often as you guys so my inputs should be regarded accordingly. But when I shoot, I do shoot several hundred rounds usually.

I did just join a range where I’ll have access to a 400 yard rifle range. Looking forward to stretching shots out past 100 yards!!!

During the last drought, I found and bought a couple thousand Federal Gold Medal AR primers. They work great. I kinda reserve these…

I mainly use Winchester SRP 41’s which I’ve found to be very reliable and work well. These are the ones I stock up on and use the Federals for my bolt gun…no real reason why, just because???

I have WOLF, TULA, CCI 41s, and CCI regular 400s? I have the RMR 75s too. I might dig back into N140 again after we burn off some of the 69s.

We’ve been shooting a lot more pistol lately so my rifle loading is minimal right now.

I’ve probably shot around 1500-1700 .223 with the Win #41’s and zero misfires thus far. I’ve probably shot 4-5000 Win SPP in 9MM loads without a misfire. And I find them quite consistent and accurate in my 9MM loads. and the price has been good at under $0.05 per primer from Republic Ammo.

I remember you saying a while back the CCI #41’s seemed kinda all over the place. Honestly, that’s why I went with the Winchester #41’s. I have been happy with the results but I’m not a precision shooter…I care about reliability first…and the winchesters haven’t failed to fire in any of my AR’s or bolt guns.

And the accuracy is good enough for me…I can get 1-1.5 inch - 10 shot groups at 50 yards pretty regularly from a solid bench rest. That’s mainly shooting my DDM4, BCM 16”, and Ruger American Gen 2 .223 (the Ruger normally is closer to 3/4” at 50).

I bought some Ginex from Republic for practice pistol ammo. Haven’t had a chance at much WIN primers since primers got so expensive. I still use the CCI 41s, but mostly small blaster batches of ammo. Tula SRMs aren’t super thrilling, but they all go bang.

What Ginex, and are they nickel or brass color. Are they working okay for you? Been eyeing them but haven’t heard if they are good or not

First batch were the bright brass colored SPPs. The current batch is the nickel SPPs. Both run great, but the nickel ones fit tighter in the pockets. Running the nickel in mixed 9mm brass would suck because they fit tight, but I’m going to use them for 40 cal where the pockets are consistent.
