Neal was a real upbeat guy, guess he kept his demons hidden.
He owned Ready Gunner store and range. Hosted one of Will’s armorer courses there. He was also involved with Black Rifle Coffee. I hear he also did a lot of internet videos, but I wouldn’t know. To me he was the owner of a LGS, a vet, and a pretty cool guy. 5 deployments, 4 as a Ranger one with a PMC.
I can not even imagine how dark a place one must be in to take this way out. If there’s one message to get out as loud and as often as possible, it’s for anyone who has even had this thought flicker through their mind, let someone know, seek help. AND punish those who would discourage anyone seeking this help. RIP…
Sad deal. We lost an officer in an adjacent agency a few weeks ago to suicide. He was married with a young son.
Always breaks my heart to know they were in such a dark place where they felt suicide was the only way out.
May God mend his soul and let him find peace.
There’s lots of help out there these days. If you see a friend struggling pass them a phone number to a hotline. 22Kills or other similar group. With the officer who recently died, some coworkers came by to see him the day before. They knew he was down but had no idea he was suicidal.
I think the key step is getting folks access to help when you know they’ve suffered something bad in their lives rather than waiting till you’ve confirmed their feeling bad and depressed.
I’ve met lots of folks who readily admit calling suicidal helplines saved their lives.
