Is there a table that shows what the max objective size is for a given ring height?
For example, what is the largest objective (Outer Diameter measurement) that can be mounted on a 1" height ring without clearance issues between the optic and the rail with 0MOA cant?
Same question, but taking the built in MOA of some of the rail/mount solutions? When we start talking about 20 and 40MOA in the rail/optics mount, how much height do you need to avoid clearance issues? I know scope length is going to play a part as well, but lets just use 12" as an example.
I like to put the scope as close to the bore as possible, but so far I’m not having a lot of luck with finding info on alot of the outer diameters on the scopes I’m interested in.
I may end up buying several different heights to find out which works best, but quality scope rings are definitely not cheap. I’m hoping there is a table out there that will provide the data I’m looking for.
It seems like 56mm Objective scopes with 30mm tubes and rings that are 1" or less in height may have an issue if they have cant built into the base and the scopes are over 12" long. Also seems like there would be sunshade issues, even if the scope cleared. I’m trying to plan out my next SPR build and I want to keep the optic as low as possible, but not run out of clearance for the optic with sunshade.
