Revision Hellfly Lenses

During a recent range day, I scratched/gouged up a lens on a set of Revision Hellflys while shooting a rifle from irregular positions. I called the company and they said they don’t replace lenses or sell them as parts, and that I’d need to buy a new pair of Hellflys.

Sounds odd to me, but okay. It’s disappointing to deadline a set of otherwise decent eyepro. I’m disinclined to buy a whole new pair to replace a bum lens, and if I have to, I may as well buy from a manufacturer that will replace lenses.

To Revision’s credit, the gal I spoke with was helpful and sympathetic. She didn’t know why they didn’t sell lenses, just that they didn’t.

So, my inquiries: Anyone know of something in the construction that precludes replacement of the lens? Anyone have a flame red lens, right side, for a set of Hellflys they can part with? Alternatively, I’d take a L and R any other tinted color.

I just picked up a pair of Hellfly’s.
That’s kinda disappointing to hear, especially from a company with such great reviews, and an expectation that their glasses will be used in harsh environments.

Let me know how this turns out.

RUMINT:

There is a guy on another forum I go to who runs one of Canada’s big tactical supply outfits and he has been a good guy and a source of reliable information in the past.

When I inquired about these glasses maybe a couple of years ago, I was informed that he intended to stop carrying them on account of the fact that the lenses seemed to scratch extremely easily and that in fact many were showing up scratched inside their factory packaging. He advised against them, although he did still have some stock I could have purchased.

That sucks that they won’t replace your lens.

The lenses on my Rudy Project glasses are warranted for life, though they are a little more pricey than the Hellfly’s.

Update: A day or two after my original post, I was contacted by an employee of Revision. Having seen my post, he offered to replace my Hellflys entirely, and obtained answers to my questions about replacement lenses (not available due to overall design). When I offered some feedback on fit and design (a Hellfly XL), he listened intently and forwarded it the appropriate folks.

I would have been quite satisfied with simple answers to my inquiries. I was perfectly willing to pay to replace lenses I had damaged, and would have been quite happy if he made those available. To replace the entire unit with a new at no cost far exceeded my expectations.

Job well done to Revision.

I just noticed this post and thought I would share my experience with Revision. I had my pair of Hellfly glasses for a little over a year when the rubber pieces on the frames started to come off. I contacted the company about buying new ear/temple frames and was told that they did not sell those. When I told the lady I had only had them a little over a year, she said they would be covered under warranty. She took my information and a week late a new pair arrived in the mail. It was as simple as that.

I try to take care of my glasses but they have been dropped and tossed around a few times and are still scratch free.

Great to hear, I have a new pair myself.

All I wear are Revisions, be it Hellfly’s or Sawfly’s. I’ve worn a pair of Hellfly’s for two landscaping seasons in everything thing from chemicals, mud, and cement dust and they have come out with hardly a scratch. In the past, the safety sunglasses I’ve worn we’re scratched and worn in two months let and were junk at the end of an eight month season. I just recently retired my first pair of Hellfly’s after I threw a chisel (not in anger) and it landed on a lense. It barely marked it but figured it was time for a new pair. They are a great company with stand-up people to keep it that way…
