The AR is an LMT lower with an Adams Arms complete 16", mid-length upper.
First Impressions:
I love the reticle on this scope. It is very crisp and clear, with the illumination staying perfectly visible in bright lighting.
The glass is good, with a little wide angle at the edges when at 1x. The 1x setting is great; it seems to be very easy to get on target with both eyes open, when you work it like a red dot.
The eye relief seems perfect at 4-5 inches and it fits over my buis just fine.
It feels like a high quality optic, with a solid build; definitely worth $300.
Sighted her in this morning and it was a cold morning here in Western Washington.
I sighted at 100 yards using 68 grain ASYM All copper rounds. That is my favorite ammunition, plus it’s a good mid weight for me and my 1 in 7" twist barrel The lightest rounds I usually shoot are 62 grain green tips. The heaviest tend to be 75 grain, which I also shot today. I do shoot 55 grain stuff, but not when I’m really trying for a good group.
I was extremely pleased with my results. This is the first real test of my rifles true accuracy, since prior to today it has been all irons. At 100 yards, seated, but without a rest, I was getting groups under two inches with both 68 and 75 grain ammo. At 50 yards I was at just about an inch with 62 and 55 grain ammo. I think that I might get under an inch at 100 yards with optimal conditions and ammo (I could use a good rest. Any suggestions?).
I also did a little 1x shooting at 20 yards.
So, how did the optic work for me? It worked great. I’m rarely as satisfied with a component selection. The center dot has been said to be too large in some other reviews but I think that it is just right. I would love to take it all the way out to 600 yards someday
I used the mid range brightness setting, which seemed about right in the dim morning light.
Shooting at 1x was fun and fast. Field of view is nice and wide, with little difficulty acquiring a sight picture. Perfect for 3 gunners, something I want to get into myself.
I used the updated version of this (Mtac) in the second day of a recent Redback1 class and the reticle is fantastic for close shooting at 1x. the bottom dot, which is the perforation in the circle) gave a perfect hold at 10 yards.
since it’s reliability/durability has not been vetted, I treat this as a recreational scope but it has given me no trouble so far. I really like it…
