Review: IWC QD MICRO MOUNT-N-SLOT as installed into a MOE

Sharp razor blade and a steady hand will smooth up the hole if you forget to bring home your nice bit like me and buy a paddle wood bit from walmart at 1am.

Well done, heavyduty. Great info and blow-by-blow details.

Great stuff HeavyDuty. Thank you for the how-to.

I’m really liking the low profile nature of this mount.

IWC has become my only stop for mounting solutions.

Maybe I missed it, but how critical is it to pick the “right” HG to mount it in?
Is there enough leeway to stick a “MOE” version in a VTAC Extreme, or similar?
I have seen that enterprising users have stuck these into many different HGs that are not listed on the drop-down menu, and am a bit curious if there is a sort of “universal” model.

IWC makes only one version of our QD MICRO MOUNT-N-SLOT which mounts in the hand guards listed in the Drop-down filter on our site.

And you are correct, many customers are installing this in a lot of different applications than those listed in the Drop-down filter. It’s turned out to be a universal mounting solution.

MOUNT-N-SLOT

That makes me warm and fuzzy.
Thanks

I’ve now installed a 1/2 dozen of these QD mounts, they seem well made and designed. I have not owned/used/tested them yet but I’m impressed with them.

Yeah! That’s why we are in business… to make great kit that provides solutions for operators.

MOUNT-N-SLOT

Hi,

Got my micro mount-n-slot today in the mail just two days after placing my order! Install went great as well:

Now I just need to get my sling ordered!

Thanks,

Alan

Installed mine yesterday and took it out for 500 rounds on some of my land. I will have to say that the thing seems built like a tank. Havent had any problem with it spinning although i dont see how it isnt going to sooner or later…i know i am a pessimist. But even if it would the rifle isnt going anywhere. Have two classes coming up and they will be put through hard use…i will post a review afterwards. Very impressed initially with the product and supremely impressed with the owner earl. One of the good guys in this business. thanks earl.

I solved any possible spinning with a touch of JB Weld around the base of the mount on both my installs. Didn’t think there would be a spinning problem in the future, I’m just kind of anal that way.

Bumping an older thread…

I’m upgrading a 16" mid-length A2 into something a big slicker. This morning I ordered the MOE hand guards w/ the QD Micro Mount-N-Slot and a few other goodies.

A quick search brought me here and I thought I’d bring it to the top for anyone else who was in the market.

They also have an option now to mail your MOEs in so they can install the QD on your current handguards. Just gotta send mine in!

Ok guys, I am putting one of these in a Cav Arms C-1 Buttstock. Any advice before I start?

All,
I have just finished installing 2 QD Micro Mount N Slot sling mounts. 1 is on an MOE midlength HG and the other is on an MOE Carbine length HG. The product is just wonderful, easy to mount and it works very well. The Carbine HG was a little more tricky to work with. I had to rotate the mount to the vertical position instead of the horizontal position that I used on the Midlength HG. I also had to shave down one of the alignment pins on the bottom section of the HG as the pin was hitting the bottom of the QD mount. The pin is the one closest to the HG ring. Again, excellent product and satisfaction level is very high.

Did this work this past week.

I alos roughed the inside of the stock and used some plastic-specific epoxy as a reinforcement and I used a whole tube on both attachments.

I ordered a set of carbine length hand guards with pre-installed QD mount. Excellent setup (much to the envy of fellow shooters, who now have IWC contact info  ). It was absolutely worth the money, and really expands the utility of the ‘basic’ hand guards.

I sent two of my carbine handguards out to IWC and had the QD mount installed. I also just ordered a set for my new naked Kino upper. They work great.

Can this be installed on a TRX without taking the rail off or no?
