I’ve seen this pic but had not noticed the treatment, I thought it was just another GI tang pic. Looks to be worth a try.
Redhat, its just a Norc GI that will be primarily a GI themed range gun. Though I plan to spec it out with good parts (EGW custom bushing, EGW bar stock slide stop, C&S spur hammer set and hammer strut, Wilson bullet proof extractor, Novak bar stock thumb safety, Harrison retro sights, etc) so it can pull emergency duty, as more of a range gun a concession to vanity I am making is to make it look as GI or at least period correct on the outside as much as possible. If this were a carry gun it would get a blended beavertail no doubt. As it is I carry a Glock 19 everyday.
You might call Jim Hoag. (818) 998-1510 and see if he sells them. I have not seen Heirloom Precision’s (even though I know two of the three owners), but Hoag’s and Pistol Dynamics require the “tangs” on the frame be radiused, just like most beavertail grip safeties.
I agree that doing some filing and polishing might just be the best first approach, and the cheapest. Otherwise, like az doug mentioned you might give the folks you listed a call and see if they will sell you one of theirs.
my retro with a tasteful dehorn. never bit me once. and that’s odd, since i get a really high grip, and my hands are big. long strings of fire never bothered me.
John Harrison built this Colt for me late last year. I asked him to retain the Colt stock grip safety but dehorn and reshape it so it won’t bite my hand. He did a superb job, combined it with his very own bobbed hammer design, that it makes me forget that I don’t have a beavertail.
