The upper is a rare find. Its a NOS COLT M16A1 complete upper. Was never fired or oiled for that matter. I oiled it up with clp and a brand new colt upper came alive. The markings date at 1969-1974
Nodak Spud A1 lower receiver Engraved like the COLT 603
New A1 stock and grip from Fulton Armory
DPMS LPK and a NOS A1 sling
Went to boot camp at Paris Island in Aug of 1985 . We were the last BN to use the M16A1
Well done! I do like me some A1 I have shot some very nice groups with a vintage A1. Just something about that long sight radius and the tapered front sight I really like!
Go shoot it. I have found that 52-55g match shoots very well!
Took about 4 months . I got really lucky on the upper. Some guy at a gun show walking around with 2 A1 uppers. This one had all the right markings and was very dry (never Been oiled). I took it home for $400.00 . Oiled it up with some CLP . Not even a blemish on it , never been fired . Even had the correct BCG (Colt full Auto).
Ordering the Nodak spud A1 lower receiver took about 1 month as well . IDENT did the engraving they had it to me within a week after they got it from Nodak.
That’s a very beautiful rifle! I build one very similar to yours but I used a standard A2 lower. I need to get off my butt and order the correct lower from Nodak.
