I’ve been running across a few retractable stocks that don’t get much mention yet look like they might be viable alternatives to the usual Magpul, LMT, or Vltor stock. Am curious if anyone here has tried them or what you guys just think of these in general.
RRA Operator Stock Kit, $150 MSRP with a mil-spec tube:
ERGO’s PRO stock, they bought the M93 rights from Magpul and built it to a lower price point. Around $165 IIRC.
ACE Hammer. Supposedly tough enough to hammer(?!) with, has QD swivel sockets, adjustable preset, and rattle-free smooth operation via roller bearings. $250 MSRP
If it’s anything like the Magpul M93, the new ERGO stock will be awesome. In my opinion, the 93 was a far, far better stock than the UBR, which is heavier, more expensive, and has an inferior cheek weld (for me, at least). As for the others, why bother? The EMOD, SOPMOD, and ACS are all awesome and come from companies known for quality, and the EMOD and ACS are priced competitively with the Rock River stock. Also, are you sure the Rock River is available with a mil-spec tube?
ERGO describes their PRO stock as lacking the preset feature of the M93 and modified to mount using a standard buffer tube and castle nut. They also claim the plastic hardware is molded by the same company that made the originals. Pretty much an M93 lite which does sound appealing to me also!
The RRA is listed on their site as available with a commercial tube for $130 or mil-spec for $150.
You’re right on the availability of proven quality alternatives, but more choices can’t be bad for us. It might drive prices down for example.

Damn, that was, IMO, one of the best things about the M93. Nevertheless, I didn’t know about this stock, so I appreciate the heads up.
It looks like the ACE Hammer uses a proprietary receiver extension, is that the case? It also looks like the stock is made of metal (aluminum perhaps?) if that’s the case, I’m not sure how comfortable it’d be.
While I’m not sold on the RRA collapsible stock (looks like a blatant LMT ripoff to me), the A2 fixed has some potential. I wonder how solid that hinging buttplate feels and how well it holds up to abuse though.

Yes I believe it does use a proprietary receiver extension, like some of ACE’s earlier models. And yes it is aluminum. I never thought of that, I’d hate to have my face freeze to it in the winter or melt on it in the summer!

Hmm, another thing I hadn’t thought of. Any up/down play might be felt on the shoulder, that would suck! Plus shouldering the rifle and firing would put some stress on that sliding portion too. Good observation!
