Republican Debate

Anyone watching the debate of Fox News it is pretty good but Fred is kind of bumbling around unfortunately. I have to say Ron Paul is sounding pretty good anyone have the skinny on him and his views.

Watching it now. Good stuff. Ron Paul doesn’t have a prayer though. No charisma. Thompson is doing okay, but Giuliani and Romney are again the most polished with the most lucid answers.

Thompson just closed it strong. Great response.

Yeah Fred did ok and closed strong but man he needs to step up before he gets left by the wayside. Ron doesn’t have a chance because people don’t really know who he is.

I wish Ron Paul didn’t sound so much like a studdering loon on foreign policy matters, domestically, the guy is near perfect. Thompson will hopefully be the nominee, otherwise, any of the others will have to spend the whole general election convincing the base to actually vote.

I thank god that Paul has no chance. I am for keeping the goverment from getting “too big,” but we need the FBI and those various agencies. Not to say they don’t need a tweaking and refinement much like the BATF, but we need them.

Paul wanting to abolish all these agencies is ludacris. NOW… getting rid of the IRS… I’ll back him all day on that one!!!

Does the Constitution give the Federal government any law enforcement responsibilities?

But we need it… some things have to evolve, and federal L.E. is something we need. Would be difficult to track terror suspects or white collar crime rings from jurisdiction to jurisdiction if we did not have someone with federal jurisdiction. Would just be a pain in the ass.

But my eye, amend the Constitution. It really gets my goat that people are so willing to blatantly ignore the limitations of the Constitution out of mere convenience. Federal LE does nothing cooperation between states and Local LE agencies can’t.

I like Ron Paul on a LOT of issues, but I don’t know that he would get elected. (Although, frankly, he MIGHT be the one candidate who could draw off some of the Hildabeast’s votes and swing the general election- if he didn’t lose just as many from the Guliani kool-aid drikers on the R side)

But I’ll tell who has been impressing me recently is Huckabee. Out of all of them, he is probably the best AND still electable of the lot. Frankly, if they run Guiliani or McCain, why bother? They both support the same gun control liberalism as Hitlery, and they would disgrace the GOP in the process. We don’t need another RINO at the watering hole… Fred seems to be playing it cool for now; but since he’s finally gone and announced, he needs to start getting on with it. The whole “Don’t just do something; stand there!” strategy isn’t going to win- and we NEED a win, from a REAL pro-gun conservative.

Yes and no. If that level of cooperation were possible; yes. But the vast amound of jurisdictions in this country would render that basically impossible. It is complcated enough for a local agency to handle cases that spread throughout the jurisdictions just within that county, much less the country.

If Federal operations could be streamlined and simplified (i.e. ATF laws/policies that even cops can’t understand much less society) then I think it’d be a system that would work quite well.

Regardless, we need it. We’ve had some “individuals” engaging in activity that reached back to a notorious figure in the middle east. The fed’s were instrumental in following up on that case. A local jurisdiction doesn’t have the means to conduct such investigations much less the man power and resources.

I was suprised when I thought the same thing during the first debate on Fox News…

All this being said I don’t have a problem with the FBI, I have a problem with agencies being created despite the FedGov not having any Constitutional authority to do so. Now the IRS, DOE, BATFE and a few others can go straight to hell.

Huckabee gets my attention more an more with every debate. I will keep an eye on him.

Mccain and Ron Paul disturb me. Dont know what it is about Mccain, he has the goods though

Mike is a very strong conservative, and is a smart and funny speaker. Very strong on the 2nd, knows it has nothing to do with “Sporting Purposes” and in fact has a CCW. I wish the Gun Culture would rally around Huckabee.

Irighti

Hey, now…
