Removing burnt carpet residue from suppressor?

Long and short of it, went to a range where the benches are fully carpeted(?), removed very hot suppressor and before head was removed from ass… the damage was done. I’ve tried heating it in the oven to no avail.

Any wise men out there with a damage free solution?

I did the same thing to my G5 a few years ago. The way I got it off was to shoot it getting it pretty hot, then I just took a copper brush to it and everything came off without any problems. I wasn’t worried about the finish because that was already screwed up from shooting it so much.

Was this a rifle can? If so just do a mag dump and take a cotton rag and quickly wipe the melted residue and it’ll come right off. I had the same the happen with a suppressor mirage cover on my m42000. After you heat/wipe then do another mag dump and it’ll burn the rest off.

It sure will!

I partially melted the palm of a pair of Mechanix gloves to an M4-2000 a few weeks ago. I just scraped it off before it cooled off too much.

Maybe freezing the suppressor would cause it to contract and the residue to break off?

Science 101, will try it.

Bingo! I’ve had the almost exact scenario occur. I ran a few mags through the suppressor, then took a thick stack of oil-saturated newspaper and was able to remove the plastic residue.
