remove/install a barrel

I have a rifle that takes more clicks of windage than I like. The rifle is in spec and I should leave it alone but I can’t. I want to loosen the barrel nut and put opposite force on the FSB when the barrel nut is tightened. Will this work? I’m under the impression that it will given what I’ve read here. I’d like to change the windage by about 10 clicks.

There isn’t very much movement available to you, but I just know you are going to try anyway. So…

Try to move the front sight in the opposite direction you want the rounds to go, and retighten it, torqueing it correctly.

Learn to control your OCD. Can you fix the not perfect front sight? Yes, but you need to send it to a gunsmith. If you don’t know what your doing, don’t screw with your barrel or front site tower.

No I cannot explain to you how to repair this. Control your OCD.

Buy a red dot sight.

What brand parts are you using? Does the FSB sight perfectly at 90 in relation to the top rail now?

I’m not a gun smith nor do I have any other credentials but it may be that your receiver face is not square with the barrel extention so no matter how you torque the barrel you would still have windage problems.

My windage issues… if you could call it that… lol.

This was my first ever AR (shows in my posted replies…) and the start to a horribly awesome hobby that my wife loathes… the best of BOTH worlds!

That handguard looks like a LaRue. I used one for my first build. The only problem I had with the build was with the accuracy. It doesn’t shoot as well as I would have liked. The best group to date has been 0.75".

Maybe I should solve my problem with my latest obsession with a low pro gas block and LaRue handguard.

It sucks to be a perfectionist with OCD.

A good woman is harder to find than a good carbine.

Before trying to tweak your barrel or front sight, make sure you’re not canting the rifle. As high as the sight plane of the AR is above it’s bore, it exaggerates even the slightest cant

It was a Larue, and I loved it. I hated to part with it, but on to bigger and better things!

Amen. Do you preach in my area? I’m standing in the choir… lol
