The Colt M4A1 I handled at a gun shop also had the H2. I’m running an H2 in my LMT 16" carbine as well. I was under the impression that was the correct buffer for a carbine like this, even though H was the standard for years.
Please direct me to where it is said this has a SOCOM profile barrel.
I can also see two, maybe three, things in those pictures that are indicative of a commercial/hobby grade gun.
This lead me to believe it was socom profile.
Care to share your findings in those photos?
- The takedown pin is blued. It looks like the pins in a dark ages 1980s LPK
- Only one pocked on the castle nut appears to be staked.
- Commercial dimension handguard cap
- Sling swivel rivet goes in the wrong direction, yes I know this is minor, but BCM gets it right.
Given Remington’s shenanigans over the past years 10 years, I simply can’t trust this thing to be right.
Those don’t seem like deal breakers to me, not that I’m planning on buying one though. You have to admit, it does seem to be a step in the right direction for Remington.
It does have the socom profile barrel. I didn’t get a picture of it when I went back but I assure you it is an M4A1 clone.
The LE6920 Socom comes standard with one. I run one in my 14.5" BCM middy and it runs fine.
Launching this product with a SOCOM barrel is a mistake. People do not want them.
Understandable, but considering that they have a contract to build them alongside FN for the Army, it makes sense in that regard.
I thought Remington lost that contract on appeal and it was awarded to FNH instead.

looks like they are releasing a lot of stuff to consumers but those MSRP prices are through the roof. Looks like remington might have the most expensive factory rifles on the market in every segment now. DI AR, Piston, Bolt gun etc.
I don’t know why, it makes more sense than a government profile. My socom barrel is more accurate than my regular M4 as well.
People cannot appreciate all the things that might make the socom profile barrel better while handling a rifle at the gun counter. They simply can feel that it is heavier
IMHO the M4A1 Heavy barrel profile is a mistake regardless.

I thought the same thing 4 or 5 years ago when I had one. 4 or 5 years later I still haven’t seen a chrome lined barrel that shot like that Colt M4A1 barrel.
They’re 4oz heavier, but they do shoot better than a gov’t profile.
Government and lightweight barrels outsell socom/Hbars at a 20/1 ratio.
Either way, I think it’s worth keeping an eye on these. Not saying I’d take one over my BCM or that I’d advise anyone else to, but for $1050, it looks promising.
The name “Remington” is the only thing that concerns me about it at this point.
