It’s so clean you can’t tell where the Thruster ends and barrel begins. Here’s a pic before the coating when on:
IIRC it’s an HS Precision stock with full internal aluminum bedding block that comes OEM on the gun. No plans to upgrade the stock as of now, as long as it shoots. I have an AI 2.0 on my .308… It’s hard to spend 1K on a stock. I do plan to paint this stock eventually.
Maybe markm will let me try out his Salmon-colored SpringCo
You still might skim bed it. We shot Pappabear’s 5R SS with the green stock for 500 rounds or so. When the smith pulled the action out, you could see where the hold that the action screw go in were egging out… even with a full, heavy torque value on them.
I do plan to do that, especially after reading those AAR’s you guys did. I’m just not in a rush to send it back out.
I gotsta make sure it shoots true first
That’s freaking amazing! It almost likes like they machined the comp into the end of the barrel. I’m still looking around for a comp for my 700. Interested in how that Thruster works for you.
You guys still going on about the “fruity colored” springs? Haha. Maybe we have to get markm a pink rear bag for his bag fettish. :haha:
Nice looking 300, I have the same rifle. Didn’t do as much upgrading though:
Timney-Bedding-Knob-AAC Brake. We shot it first time last week. But plan to heat that mother up on Saturday. Last week we sighted it in and warmed it a little.
These Brakes today are amazing. I never dreamed I would shoot a 300WM and it feel like a 243.
Thanks man. Yeah, I’m a bit jealous of your AAC brakes. I don’t think they were available three years ago. At the time, cans were not legal in MI yet either. They are now
Shot the gun today. Recoil was similar to a AR, very light.
Groups were as good as expected for factory ammo. Being about 32 degrees my finger was freezing but I still managed to get MOA groups or less. A couple were around 1/2" and the hundo. It was just too damn cold to care. I forgot the camera…
Great gun though. I think I may get into reloading now…
Well thats good whats the price gap? I got into hand loading before the prices went crazy on the loaded stuff. I only started doing it for the increase in accuracy at range but it morphed from there into doing everything. The price diffrence is still quite substantial and the quality is much higher when you hand load. If you need any tips let me know
Yes, hand load. We shot my 5R today and it shot 3 different loads Markm cooked up. I shot one 5 shot group that was .25 inches. All three were half inch groups. That gun will drive tacks! I’m pretty excited about the gun. I’m sure you would have done the same with hand loads and 65 degrees outside. Just had an amazing day at the range.
Your Rem700 5R 300WM is Boss. Especially yours all jacked up:D
