Remington 11-48 Tactical

Ok, so I bought a Remington 11-48 shotgun and now I want to make it a tactical 11-48. Now I know they stopped making this gun over 46 years ago and no parts to modify it are out there. I’m asking what modern shotgun parts will fit it. I noticed that the rear stock looks a lot like a 1100 stock could I put one of them on it? And will a 870 magazine tube extender work as long as I don’t use the barrel clip?

I’m not sure on the stock, but the mag tube extender will fit, but you will need a spacer(3/16" IIRC) to fill the gap between the mag tube and the forearm.

Thank you for the magazine tube info.

No worries, also apparently both the 11-87 and 58 stock will fit them.

ETA: If the 58 stock fits it an 870 stock should fit since the 58 was an 870 receiver and barrel modified for the 58 gas system.

This is when a Remington shotgun started to look like what most are familiar with for the last 60+ years. The safety button, bolt handle and magazine threads haven’t changed. They were later incorporated into the 870 and 1100/11-87 designs. The thread pattern has been the same for the mag tube for the last 100+ years since the Model 11.
I love these older Remington auto-loaders,especially the Model 11. Newer shooter shy away because they cannot use steel shot, fixed chokes, long recoil principle(more recoil). They can be had on the cheap normally.

If you want to put any of the extended mag tubes, safeties, charging handles they will fit on the 11-48. The Model 11 requires a shim, about 1/4" thick for the mag tube, the threads are longer on this model, but same pattern. You shouldn’t need a spacer/shim on the 11-48. I just took a Remington +2 extender off my 870 and put it on my 11-48,you will need a longer magazine spring.
