I normally shoot Brown Bear or Golden Tiger ammo, but I need recommendations for 7.62x39 non-corrosive ammo with FMJ lead core bullets because of range restrictions.
Given the restrictions, I might as well buy ammo with really good brass for reloading too. Eliminated Fiocchi because it uses .308 bullets. Arsenal? S&B? PMC? Need assistance.
Ah none of what you were shooting was STEEL CORE! It was Bimetal jacketed LEAD CORE! IE Copper washed steel jacket. PMC is about the cheapest- my SKS hates it! Grouped like shit! Great brass for reloading though. Privi sucked about the same as PMC -again great brass for reloading. Just make sure your dies size the case mouth to .311"
Bi metal and copper washed steel are not the same. Bi metal is an alloy and copper washed is steel dipped in or sprayed with molten copper.
Op what you had was fine.

I wasn’t aware that they used .308 bullets. Why the hell would they do that?

Bi metal jacket is what Brown Bear is advertised as.
This is not acceptable at some indoor ranges such as the one I shoot at.
For such ranges I reload using Hornady 123gr 0.310 dia. Spire Point (#3140)
What the hell is the difference? I know nothing about 7.62X39 ammo. Wouldn’t using .308 bullets improve that round?

Right column, down to specifications, bullet diameter…7.92 mm (0.312 in)
A .308 down the bore meant for a .312 bullet, do you see now?
Russ
7.62x39 is a .311 bullet and bore dia. You can load them with .308 bullets but it’s like a hot dog down a hall way. Why turn a 2-3 moa rifle /round into a 6-8 moa setup?

I have the same problem, at an outdoor range no less. They decided that to bi-metal must equal steel core or some BS because no steel case ammo is allowed.
