Reliable Glock 19 Extension's

I’ve been looking at Taran Tactical base pads for my Gen 4 G19 with an Agency Arms mag well. On their website it says they dont work on the G19.

Does anyone know of good mag extensions for the G19 that do not cause reliability issues?

Why won’t these work?

I’m pretty confident they’ll run reliably. It might be they won’t work with that specific magwell. I know that with a vickers grip plug, the Taran extension will not allow the mag to fully seat due to the pin that holds the base pad on

G19 mag and TT +3 9mm

A Glock 17 mag.

Ok, I didn’t see that one for some reason. I was on the 9/40 mag and it says strictly that it will not work for a G19, so thanks for that link! I really want to give them a shot!

So with that pin in the back, does that have to seat in the empty void in the back in order to seat fully?

Taran makes basepads that are specific for the G19, and won’t work with the 17 and vice versa. The pin is what holds the basepad on.

Centurion Arms also makes them for both the G19 and G17, and they each designed for their specific mag.

That was what got me curious enough to look since I had never seen that level of model specific base pads. Still not wrapping my mind around where the interference happens.

And are their plates really 9/40 only? No .357?

What would be wrong with a Glock 17 mag with a +2 extension?
Or a 22 or 28 round ETS mag? Or a 33 rounder?

Or an OEM 24 rounder?
I’ve been occasionally tempted to find a magazine extension for my G19 mags, but I keep coming back to the Magpul or factory extended mags.

Are Centurion’s unique to them? I just always saw the similarity to Taran in your pics and figured they were taran’s with a Centurion decal.

G19 options:
G17 mag (17rds)
G17 mag + oem +2 extension (19rds)
G17 mag + tarran tactical +5 extension (with spring)- (22rds).

The tarran extension springs dont last as lobg as oem 17+2 ime, you need to stretch them a couple times and replace if you use them a lot.

Factory +2’s have run perfectly for me over the years. Have several, on G17, G19, G22 &G23 mags.

Magpul 21 rnder I have runs great also, with brass or nickel case ammo.

My spare mag for a G19 would be that 21 rnder, or a G17 mag w/+2.

The +2’s w/ insert are ridiculously cheap at the glock store.

I’ve been running TTIs on my G19 for the past year or so. I generally use a standard Gen 5 mag but carry +3 as spares and a G17 w/ +5 on my plate carrier. All 100% reliable but I tend to shoot my Glock and Magpul mags on the range and leave known reliable TTIs on my duty belt.

Glock +2 have been perfect as well. The TTI +3 seem to print less but as I said, I don’t usually carry that way.

I have also used the +4 Glock 21 TTI with 100% reliability…just dont drop em. Seems like the 9mm flavored ones are more secure.

For me it seems like there are cheaper options but the Tarans just look cool and that’s all that really matters anyway.

Got a sale email from Centurion on their base pads. Anyone have experience with them? As good or better that TTI? I’m looking at getting a couple for G17 mags.

I am also wondering about the centurion extensions. I figure they must be good to go as everything that centurion makes is, but I am wondering if they are slightly larger; they appear slightly larger in photos. Anyone…?

I would go for the Glock +2s in a G17 mag if it’s a serious use gun. The Tarans have worked great for me but I have had more than a few Tier One dudes tell me they will pop off if pressure is applied from the side, like hitting on a door frame while doing room entry.

I have plenty of mags w/ factory +2s and that’s what’s currently in my 17. I was looking at them for a reload mag or 2, if they’re reliable.

OOS right now but should be available soon as they are a Blue Label Dealer
