Reliability? Glock 34 v G17 - mud / sand / austere conditions?

For no particular reason - the last couple of days I have been wondering about the reliability differences between a G34 and a G17 in less than perfect conditions - mud / sand / dust / lack of proper maintenance?

I am ass_u_ming that the big cut out in the slide is a potential problem - is it? I looked around on the web for this some, and read about a vid where someone was adding sand / small pebbles to the slide cut on a 34 to try and get it to choke, but it didn’t (I never saw the video).

I get the fact most things can be prevented by a good holster, but I am really asking about things that happen outside of the holster.

Anyone have or know of any real world crap outs with a 34 due to crap flowing into the slide cut?

TIA

Great thread here on that exact comparison: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?118245-Glock-17-or-Glock-34
