reducing muzzle blast from perm. brake...

i just tried out my new cmmg upper. being this is NY state i went with a permanent muzzle brake instead of a trip to jail

this thing is pretty loud. i’ve got a 5m2 phantom brake on it.

it’s tolerable, but i’m wondering how long i’m going to want to put up with it.

i’m wondering if i could widen the bullet exit holes to reduce the amount of gas that gets directed backward. obviously recoil will be increased, but i can deal with that.

i should be able to do the mod with a drill in a few minutes…

stupid idea?

dangerous?

Not being familair with NYS law in regards to the wording on the requirement, I would say leave it be. By altering it’s design, which would be approved by the BATF, it may render it unapproved. Reason being is that it may reduce the muzzle flash by opening up the exit hole. Besides, imagine going to far and hitting the crown.

i’m only thinking of opening it slightly

the NY AWB is virtually un-enforceable as is, and it would take a hell of a sharp eyed trooper to catch this.

i’ll make some kind of spacer to avoid hitting the crown.

will this idea work to reduce blast?

Ok, let’s not get into any issues to circumvent or otherwise violate the rules in place concerning the subject.

I know I didn’t answer the question you want. I don’t know what the answer is, accept what’s given so far and leave it be.

Don’t harm yourself or others by playing in the gray area, enough said.
