Reducing flash on a 10.5"... Realistic?

I’m planning my first SBR build, that will start as a pistol till my stamp clears.

Is there a flash hider that works well on something as short as a 10.5" or am I just chasing a unicorn and throwing money at a hopeless cause? Some of the FH I’ve seen on 16" barrels perform really well, but will the shorter barrel reach a point where no FH will help?

Thanks in advance

With that short of a barrel it is nearly impossible to completely eliminate flash. The best flash hider on the market is the B.E. Meyers, and the AAC blackout is another excellent option as well.

Ammo selection plays a big part in flash as well… but a proper flash hider will amaze you with its fireball taming abilities.

Never used the Meyers but another vote for the blackout. I have one on my 11.5 and it works well. They make them with or without the suppressor adaptors.

Thanks for the responses thus far.

^this.

Ammo plays just as much of a role. Hornady and Izzy ammo I find to have very very low flash even from bare muzzled short barrels.

As mentioned, the BE Meyers is definitely the best straight up FH. Not far behind the curve is the AAC Blackout and the Smith Vortex.

A2 flash hiders, despite only costing a couple dollars, work very well indeed.

It’s all about the powder/ammo, Jackson.

Don’t shoot XM193 if you don’t want flash.

By far the most consistently flash-as-hell commercially produced ammo.
