Customer Service and Product Performance are top priorities at Blue Force Gear. It has come to our attention that Redi-Mods we provided between November 5, 2009 and March 22, 2010 may have magazine catches which are insufficiently staked. While this condition has no effect on the host weapon reliability or safety, the magazine catch on the Redi-Mod itself could work its way loose over time causing the spare magazine to drop free unexpectedly. If you purchased a Redi-Mod between the dates above, we would like to inspect and re-stake your Redi-Mod (on an as need basis) to ensure that it continues to function properly. We will perform this inspection and re-staking at no charge and will pay ground shipping both ways. Customers who received Blue Force Gear Redi-Mods in the affected date range should email returns@blueforcegear.com or call 877-430-2583 to receive exact return instructions.

Thanks for the heads up. I did purchase a Redi-Mod during this time.

Assuming a certain level of proficiency, is this something that a user can check on his own at home? I.E. would it be possible for you to provide a GO/NO-GO picture here to which we could compare?

I don’t mean to bypass the process that you have set up, I just figured that for users here who don’t mind working with their hands/tools, maybe time and effort could be saved.

After you asked your question we actually got our graphics guy to shoot and notate hi-res close ups of the stakes on this production range of Redi-Mods and here it what we discovered: The difference between good stakes and bad stakes as portrayed in a 2-D photo is extremely subtle and therefore not a reliable way to judge.

Because of this, our intent is to re-stake 100% of the Blue Force Gear Redi-Mods produced in the date range. If you purchased one of our Redi-Mods during the date range, please email returns@blueforcegear.com and get your RMA and return instructions.

Stephen, just as a heads-up, I had a RediMod do this to me in January 2009 while in a Magpul Dynamics class; you guys were great about it, and replaced it as soon as I told you about it, but you should know that the problem may predate your current range.
