redi mags

ive been hearing alot about these redi-mags and are very interested in them. especially the one that rob has on his rifle ( with the bolt release gizmo). ive been kinda browsing around and observed that there are several models to choose from. im interested in some good pics, prices, and where to buy from.

well, i cant give any idea about places to buy, but i recently started using one, and i have to say, im a convert, for sure.

I played with both the gen 1 and gen 2, and settled on the gen1. I prefer both mags released with one button push. makes reloads VERY fast.

The quickness of the initial reload is (to me) worth all of the extra weight on the gun.

aside from that, i know that i can grab my carbine at ANY TIME and have 60 rounds ON TAP and ready to go.

FWIW, that bolt release gizmo is a T&E part from Travis of Magpul Dynamics. I have no idea what production plans there are for that part.

I can’t see using a Redimag without one. I have two Redimags, and only one of those gizmos, so only one Redimag is installed on a gun.

I do with BFG would do their lightweight treatment on a Gen 1 that releases both mags with one button.

What are the implications of a lefty using redi-mags?

im a lefty. i prefer the gen 1

support hand drops back to magwell hold, and presses rifle into shoulder. thumb to drop both mags.

shooting hand actually comes off grip, takes fresh mag, swaps it into magwel and then returns to pistol grip, index finger drops bolt.

ugh its tough being a lefty:D

Since we are talking about redi-mag, can anyone here confirmed that redi-mag would not bolt on LMT MRP without modification?

…or a KAC SR-15 E3?

I’ve owned every model Redi-Mag over the past couple of years and sold them all when the BFG version came on the market. It is light years better than the older models. Substantially lighter weight, angled cut so you can actually see the magwell during a reload, and the individual mag release controls are serious advantages. Try doing a malfunction drill with the older models - it’s a serious PIA.

Redi-Mags take some time & practice to get the manipulations down pat, but once you have mastered it they rule. There is no faster reload on the planet.

FYI - I’ve never had a problem hitting the bolt release once I practiced enough with it. I originally purchased one of the Redi-Mag brand extensions but dumped it. All it takes is patience & dedicated practice.

Any Blue Force Gear dealer can order you the improved version.

I got one directly from Blue Force Gear and another from G&R Tactical. Both support this forum.
