And another thing I don’t understand after reading about OP: Garden Plot… why is the law of Posse Comitatus even in existence if we can simply “suspend” it when we want? In that case why don’t we just suspend it indefinitely so we can use units like ACE and Devgru and SAD to hunt home grown terrorists and in response to internal hostage situations…?
I was always under the impression that we formed CAG after seeing the impact the SAS had on its own soil… yet we can’t use them in the same capacity?.. there is no other country that has such a stupid law.
Be very careful what you wish for, they are trying to make US (You and Me) the homegrown terrorists. Though we would not harm a soul that is not trying to hurt me or mine. I do not know about you but I do not want a 5 man team of our most elite hunting me because I take the Constitution seriously.
At first blanche it may seem silly that US troops can’t be used in the US, but when you consider our countries construction (states being part of a union) and the historical consquences of Roman armies being used at home, you can start to see why people are a bit nervous to see US troops used at home. I’d rather run the risk of taking the time to at least go thru some bereaucratic hurdles before the use of US troops on our soil, rather than seen our current SWAT police culture taken up a few notches.

I’m comfortable with the duality, as long as the trigger is firm, understood and visible. Military has lots of cool toys and gear and experienced people to handle issues that our first repsonders only see in drills.

According to Eric Haney (a founding member of SFOD-D) this is why FBI created HRT. He wrote about this in his book Inside Delta Force. They cross trained at Bragg with SFOD-D for this very reason. HRT are the guys who shot an unarmed Vicky Weaver dead as she held her infant daughter at their home on Ruby Ridge.

I am still trying to understand the original EO… from what I am gathering… it was an under the table way of them assuring they could enforce an eminent domain type of seizure of rural lands, forests, and farms in the name of “national security” during times of global unrest for future “National Sustainability”…?

Thanks, that clarified it. However, in the end… if and when it happens… what could there really be left to do about it? Take up arms and hide in the Rockies? which would by the way, probably then be owned by the Swiss or the Weegies or even the Chileans… it just seems like a big cluster fuck that isn’t worth worrying about because there’s nothing to do to prevent it… if it happens it happens… like a massive Asteroid headed right for us…
