Took almost 8wks on backorder from Optics Planet. Worth the wait as an HD7 Gen III showed up. Range report ASAP. Co-witnesses very nicely w/ the front sight. Haven’t decided on the BUIS yet. Supposed to be .458 Socom rated.
What made you decide to go with that over the more common offerings?

I went based on the mission statement of the company (US based and owned), user reviews from reputable sources, and price point.
Since my primary use will be 2 and 3 gun matches I couldn’t justify the price of the more proven and popular offerings. Also, I have a gut feeling this optic and the Lucid company as a whole is/are a sleeper in the industry.
This is the first I’ve seen of this optic.
How does it compare to the Vortex stuff? Seems to be priced comparably.
This one struck me a bit more refined in design than the Vortex and from what I read reveiwed better. That being said I have no practical experience w/ either. I will be able to speak to the Lucid’s performance hopefully this weekend.
Should have saved a little longer and gotten an Aimpoint. The lucid is money down the drain.
Would you mind expanding on that?
Opinion is one thing. Technical, documented evidence to support stated opinion is another.

I have one of the first gen lucid hd7’s. Since it’s my least favorite optic I’ve got it on my sig556 which is my least favorite rifle.
Maybe the new ones are better.
Well we have plenty of documentation on this site and others of Aimpoints having much better battery life, along with holding up to abuse and rough use.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a Military Arms review that wasn’t glowing. Maybe only awesome products get reviewed? 
Thanks, sammage. At least you referenced another post of someone (Grizzly16) who had actually used one. Of course he found issue with other sights (Vortex, Aimpoint) as well.
I guess what I’d like to see from myself and others on product reviews is, (1) first hand or documented use/knowledge of a product, (2) less opinion and more objective analysis, (3) product positioning taken into consideration - is this for the competitive tack driver or is it for the weekend plinker, (4) relative price point; don’t compare a $250 product to a $1,250 product, or at least take that into consideration.
Good luck with the optic. The only way to see whats for you is to buy it and shoot it.
Is the lucid h7 made in China? They say most are made in China and “some products” are made in the US.
I’ve got ZERO experience with the Lucid. SomeOtherGuy quoted my question with his replies.

The HD7 is made in China. However the design to my knowledge is US based and QA ends in the US.
I try very hard to not buy overseas if possible but I wanted a decent red dot for 2 and 3 gun matches, not for combat and not for posing. I could have afforded an ACOG or other high end holo sight but that would have been “pearls on a pig”. So I was fortunate to strike a compromise and buy from a US owned and operated company that has the product I wanted manufactured in a low cost country.
That being said to those folks espousing the the pedigree of pricer optics/holosights let’s not even get into a discussion at the component level. Because if you don’t go to Taiwan or China…I dare say 99% of all electronic devices don’t even come to market.

Back to F2S’ question and given that you didn’t want to spend aimpoint/acog/eotech money. What about this lucid is better than say the offerings from primary arms and vortex that are also made in china, have comparable warranties, mission statements and lower prices?
The P.A. unit I was able to handle at a local show and it felt fit for “airsoft” level use and I can say for sure the optical quality of the Lucid is superior.
I’ve lurked over the vortex for a few years but user reviews were all over the place for reliability, fit and finish.
The Lucid presented best (for me) from the vendor and from user reviews. Eventually I needed/wanted to commit to something. I figured the US based company and a newcomer to the industry would get my coin. From here I must hope for the best.
So, have you had a chance to take it to the range? What’s you observations?
Not so far…work obligations and weather keep me from the range. Rest assured I’ll post up my impressions asap.
