My red dot screws stripped so easily that it came off of the mount that would connect to the upper rail. What is the best way to epoxy or pin the red dot to it’s personal mount (not the actual top rail mount) you know what I am talking about right? I really need your help I am never removing it for at leased 5 years so I want it to be rock solid should I pin it somehow or glue it? I need details please.
What model of RDS are you talking about?

Did the female threads on the mount itself strip, or only the screws? If it’s only the screws that stripped, contact the manufacturer of the mount and see if they will send you replacement hardware for it.
I would contact the manufacture for any product failure, 9 times out of 10 the will take care of you free of charge.

What brand red dot. A quality name brand red dot should not have the screws “strip” out as you mentioned. I use loctite when mounting to prevent mine from backing out
Did the threads actual strip out like one would expect on a cheap Airsoft copy? Or did the screws simple back out/come loose?

I still don’t like the idea I had to make my own fittings for the screws. the screws did not strip the actual female threads stripped with just barely a turn and a half. So I don’t think I can return now so I just need to make sure this red dot is locked down to it’s self.
I’d still contact Primary Arms and explain the situation to them. It’s worth a shot. They may surprise you.
Aside from that, I wouldn’t trust the epoxy. If you’re stuck with it, I’d consider trying to tap the stripped holes and installing one size larger diameter machine screws.

it is the epoxy mechanics use on high end carshat come in for service. But yes I am not total comfortable because I have my rifle that bug out bag just in case there was ever a big emergency I would be able to get 500 miles on foot to the family farm. Cant have my red dot fail in one journey lol. WORST CASE; if you are in my shoes what would you do and you had to help sending it in. how could i pin it to it’s self. Don’t get me wrong it still comes off the riser it’s the holder in between the optic and the riser holder. What would you creative types do?
I’d get creative & spend more money on a quality RDS.
Yeah… I’ve got nothing against the bargain, import RDS sights for range use and practice, etc. But for your go to gun(s), you just have to step up to an Aimpoint C3 or something.
I will upgrade down the road but for now it’s what I need to use because I am paying off my car and I wont have money to blow for 2 more months. how would you make sure this thing could never move?
I totally am on the same page but financing is my problem for awhile longer. could I mend the metal together? because the dot looks great it’s 2moa and should be a great dot I just cant have it start wiggling a year down the road so I want to melt the metal together or something? thoughts guys?

Dude, quit being a cheapass! PA has a mount for $29.99. Don’t ghetto it up with epoxy, gorilla glue, or duck tape. If you can’t pony up $30 for a cheap mount for a cheap optic how can you afford to shoot it?
I would make sure the thing never moved by:
-Contacting Primary Arms to see if they will have mercy on me by sending me a replacement for whatever it is I just screwed up.
-Tapping damaged holes in whatever part actually stripped, and installing new hardware.
-Buying a replacement for whatever it is that stripped.
-Taking the old stripped part/mount/optic out and shooting it to end the temptation to let any epoxy, bubble gum, weld, etc come anywhere near it.

Solution…Don’t waste any more money on cheap, chi-com rds sights. Learn to become proficient with irons and in the process save up for an Aimpoint.
If money is an issue, keep an eye out on the EE for used Aimpoint PROS or Comp M2s. I’ve seen some go pretty cheap here, if you’re on a budget, that’s the way to go.
Im assuming that you are referring to the screws that hold the optic to the mount and not simply the crossbolt that attaches the mount to the gun. If it’s the crossbolt. Throw the mount in the trash and get a different mount. If it’s the screws that mount the optic to the base its not that easy. Contact Primary Arms. They tend to take care of their customers rather well. It’s a steel screw going into aluminum. The screw will win almost all the time so you need to be very careful on not cross threading the screws or over tightening. This is not PA specific. It’s possible to do on any device where the base is a softer metal than the fastener. People have done it to Aimpoints as well.
If PA wont help you in some manner (unlikely) take the optic off the mount. Go buy some Helicoil inserts. Drill out the mounting holes WITHOUT PERMANENTLY DAMAGING THE SCOPE. Install Helicoils. Reattach mount to optic and be on your merry way. Use Loctite on the fasteners and if allowed by the instructions on the Helicoils. Don’t cross thread when you start the threads and don’t gorilla the screws. Google torque specs if you need to so you don’t strip again.
