I was told that the local Cabela’s had a 3-hour wait that day, just to call in for your background check.
Yea, the Cabellas in Allen was crazy due to the 160.00 Ruger 10/22 they were offering. Goodbye Federal bulk packs…
Thats fantastic news. Hopefully, a couple new generations fo freedom loving Americans were spawned that day. Whenever I get a new gun, I have to fondle it, then it gets me in the mood for other things with the wife:eek:
I was waiting for someone else to pick up on this, but I wonder if this is an indication of another “Obama buying panic” about to set in?
Notice how the first record day was the Black Friday after the 2008 election?
It’s possible…Grant has been warning people about this for several months, This time around I’m set, plenty of mags, ammo, etc, Let the price gouging begin…I’ll sit on the sidelines and watch…
Both Romney and Newt are anti-gun and at the top of the polls.
God knows what any of these dipshits will do if elected (or reelected), but it’s going to be such an ugly dogfight between whoever the GOP settles for and Obama that I don’t see anybody going anywhere near gun-control as an election issue. Gun control is a tar baby nobody wants to touch and the kiss of death to anyone who gets stuck with it.
Black Friday 2012 may be poised to outstrip even this record.
True…Gun control is a tar baby during the election,However, AFTER the election is what I’m worried about.IF Obama get reelected, and, I feel this is quite possible considering who running against him, He has nothing to lose…and everything to gain…If Obama is reelected, look for the gun control issues to start…starting with some sort of AWB to be introduced…After all, we gotta stop all those assault rifles going to Mexico…
Newt supported the Brady Bill but he is not a gun banner like Romney. Newt voted against the 94 AWB. He was also insturmental in inserting the sunest provision in the 94 AWB. On that score, I would say we owe him pretty big.
Even if Obama manages to squeak by and squeak by is about his best case scenario, he will not have the House and is almost guarenteed to lose the Senate due to the huge number of red state Senate seats the Dems are having to defend this time. There is little danger he will have enough electorial ass to have any coattails.
He can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other with regards to gun control.
The flaw in that argument is that Obama, who would certainly have nothing to lose if re-elected, actually has nothing to gain either by pursuing more onerous gun control legislation. Embracing gun control would merely reinforce the intransigence of Republicans in Congress and force many Democrats to withdraw their support, thus severely limiting his ability to move more substantive elements of his legislative agenda.
Even if (and it’s a HUGE and very improbable “if”) the Democrats regained control of the House, Obama would need all hands on deck to push gun control through and House Democrats well remember the shellacking they took in 1994 after Clinton signed the AWB less than two months before the election.
In 1994, thirty-four Democratic incumbent House representatives were defeated (including Speaker of the House Tom Foley) and the Democrats lost control of the House for the first time since 1954.
The memory of that defeat is still fresh for many Democrats. And the AWB was considered to have been one of the principal influences leading to that Republican landslide in the House. They are extremely unlikely to repeat the same mistake twice.
Look at “Fast & Furious,” The whole idea there was to manfacture enough “evidence” to try to get another AWB…As we all know, it backfired big time. Still, they (Obama adminstration) was willing to go forward with this(despite the questionable legalitys) up to the point it cost a BP agents life. The point I’m trying to make is, they will never give up on another AWB,gun control in general…Just because it’s not on the table right now, dosen’t mean it won’t be again…They’re perfectly willing to bide their time and wait…As much as socialism is ingrained into the brain of the hard core democrat,so is gun control…
Do not let the “it can’t happen here” mentality creep into your psyche! It could happen here if the conditions came together. There are so few republicans that are true conservatives. Last presidential election is proof of that. Once again we were given the choice of holding our nose when we voted or not vote at all. Many conservatives did not vote leading to the mess we are in now.
The assault weapons ban of 94 was passed because Clinton convinced (read made deals with) enough republicans to get the bill passed.
It is correct, if Obama was to get re-elected, he would have nothing to lose. He has been way too quiet on gun control up to this point in his presidency.
The assault weapons ban of 94 was passed because Clinton convinced (read made deals with) enough republicans to get the bill passed.
No it wasn’t.
The Republicans were NOT in control of the House in 1994.
Please don’t just make shit up and post it when it is so easy to factcheck.
Spot on.
Buy now, buy often. We are not out of the woods yet by a long shot. Do not go to sleep and think it is safe to vote for the candidate who is sort of squishy on gun control. This guy will still allow the ATF to ‘interpret’ the sporting purpose clause in any way they see fit. Barrels and other critical components will still be banned from import.
This. Buy what you need now. The legislative side of government is completely gridlocked and ineffective. It won’t matter if non-Democrats hold both houses of Congress, if BHO gets reelected. Obama and the “progressives” figured out something a long time ago: when you want to ‘get things done’, you make an end run around the Constitution and legislative process. You use SCOTUS, and you use “regulations” created by unelected and unaccountable bureaucrats, like the EPA or the ATF.
You sir, well, you “get it”. Please continue to pass this word. It wont be the Congressman that bans freedom, it will be the czar. Not the elected, but the appointed.
