Just purchased a Security Six and was wondering if anyone had any leads on what I should replace the stock skinny grips with? I use the large backstrap on my M&Pc, if that helps any.
Just know that Ruger no longer stocks parts for the Security Six / other Six packages. They took excellent care of me when mine had an issue, but something to be aware of.
Understood, it was largely an impulse buy, but it had the best price and condition I’ve seen around here for a long time. I was going to get a 3in SP101 as my first revolver but I think this will suit my needs better.
Looking on Midway the only options are Hogue and Pachmyar. The Pachmyars however seem to be iffy and I am not a fan of the Hogue rubber grips.
After further searching, I think I will probably get the Hogue laminate wood grips. However,I’ve seen some mention that they interfere with the use of speed loaders? Anybody have any experience with this?
Consider a tyler t grip with your factory wood service grips
I’ve had a set of Pachmayr grips on mine since 1976. I like the feel of them far better than the factory grips.
I’ve run Spegels without finger grooves for YEARS; but the alternatives are nylon pebbled Hogue monogrips with fingergrooves.These nylons aren’t sticky, feel about the same, and are still available. If you have the 150series slanted backstrap frame, that’s a whole 'nother deal.

Hogue makes a wood mono-grip with fingers grooves for them, or at least they did about 5 years ago when I bought a set for mine.
The best grips I ever tried on my now-gone Security Six were rubber grips made by Mustang. They were great! You could probably scare up a set on GB.
