Recommend an all purpose trigger

I have had several light primer strikes with my milspectrigger and I was thinking about going ahead and swapping out the whole assembly. I am about to sell my hunting ar and just keeping my sbr (then getting a second upper for hunting) however, my sbr is primarily used for duty. Also most of the duty work is using gloves.

I really like the flat triggers and don’t mind spending a little more for a quality product. What do yall recommend? I’ve been looking at the geissele sde

If you are using it for work also I would do a SSA or a SD-C. I know there’s a few others out that are gaining a following, but the SSA is about as rock solid as a trigger can get and the SD-C is just the flat trigger version of that, if I remember correctly.

I like my SSA-E a little better than the SSA, but you will get mixed views on that for a standard patrol rifle type setup. I didn’t say anything just to avoid that whole arguement, but since you went ahead and said it…

From what I am reading the difference between sde and sdc is the crispness of the break?

Both of my AR’s have Geissele SSA’s. Great triggers. I would recommend them without a doubt. Made from tool steel, smooth, not too crazy light. Watch the video on YouTube about they’re triggers. SSA-E is my favorite too - but with light primer strikes, you should check your hammer spring for correct installation and weight.

I have 2 SSA and 2 SSA-E. Both are outstanding. Ideally shoot both if you have a friend with each trigger and then make a decision. This video may help as well:

Since you specifically said you like flat triggers I don’t think you’ll find anything better than the SD-C.

Geissele SSA, hands down.

SSA-E or a LaRue MBT.

I have two of the LaRues and they’re every bit as nice as a SSA-E, and are machined from S-7 tool steel. Not MIM.

The SSA to me is like a three stage trigger. Long take-up, short take-up, break. Some people like 'em, I never did.

Notice a trend? I would put a SSA-E in my second rifle right now if it didn’t have a higher price tag attached to it. I really like the SSA-E trigger. It is one of the best non-adjustable triggers I have felt so far.

If you’re getting light primer strikes with a milspec GI type trigger / springs then maybe you need to check that trigger / spring install, firing pin, or check your ammo. You shouldn’t be getting light primer strikes with a USGI type trigger set-up. Find out for sure what is the issue first then change the trigger later if you want a different trigger type, especially if this is a duty weapon.

Well it happened twice in like 4 rounds. It’s the only two times it’s ever happened. The team leader said the springs felt a bit light when he was checking it out
