Receiver extensions for A1/A2 butt stocks

I’m seeing receiver extensions for A1/A2 butt stocks offered for $20. Colt makes two buffer tubes for these stocks: extruded and forged, $35 and $65.

Why does Colt produce two versions of this part? Maybe some people would rather destroy the lower, others the tube, when they take off with a rifle on the roof of the rig and it cartwheels onto the concrete at 80mph  ?

Is there any real-world difference between Colt’s extruded tube and some generic copy?

Seems that some sort of anti-seize should be applied to the threads when installing one of these tubes, as when installing a carbine tube. True?

Know any arcane tricks regarding the tube/spring/buffer used with these stocks? (My application is 16" middie.) Best maintenance practices?

I ran searches on threads with “receiver extension” and “buffer tube” in the title, but didn’t come up with anything on tubes for the fixed stocks. Not the sexiest topic in the AR world but it deserves a thread here.
