All, after this dialog, http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=64663, I started procurement of parts. I’m sitting on a JP precision stripped lower, Vltor MUR upper, hogue grip, and magpul trigger guard. It is a slippery slope:laugh:
I have been looking at the rear stock/extension parts, and would like your opinions about actual differences between a RE from say, BCM, Noveske, and Vltor. There seems to be both a difference in prices and a shortage of parts, so I don’t have as many options for a “quick” purchase as I expected.
I would like to buy at least the RE, castle nut, buffer, and spring from one outfit. I’ve settled on the Noveske QD end plate. the RE must be milspec dimensions.
I have receiver extensions from BCM, Noveske, and VLTOR. I also have one from PWS (enhanced) - but that’s another story. I think you could give them a miss.
I see no difference between those three, except the VLTOR has little position numbers on it that show through the hole on the back of my iMod stock. Personally, I don’t think it matters - all are good quality.
I am toying with an EMOD kit for the entire rear end. Still playing with numbers to see if that is the best buy, though.
I was also looking at the MagPul ACS stock, thinking that if I went that way, I would need to build the RE and associated parts separately. This morning I knew which stock I wanted, now I’m not so sure…
